The dictionary meaning of Alchemist is “a person who is versed in or practices alchemy”
Story line:
The main character in the book is a shepherd(who becomes an Alchemist at last), Santiago. He left his schooling in between and began a career as shepherd because he loves traveling. He saw a dear about the pyramids in Egypt and then he first meets a gypsy woman who predicts that he would find a treasure is he follows his dream.
He learned that every thing happens for a reason behind it.
He was robbed in his way to treasure.Finally he meets the real alchemist on a moonless night.He decided to find the reason behind every omen and keep going for his destiny.
What I perceived:
I have heard a lot about this book by most of my friends. I began reading this book and finished it in 5 continuous hours. But after 5 hours I felt that I am not the same as before at the start.
We all have gifted a heart inside us which knows everything, we just need to listen to it and try to understand it. We all in this world have some kind of treasure to find, it may be in form of marriage, in form of job or in form of happy family.That is what is called as our destiny. To find that hidden treasure the only way is to understand what our heart is saying to us. I would like to quote a line from this book “When you really want something, When you desire it will all your heart, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” The books says what we all ignore, We are afraid of the depth of the oceans but I read somewhere the to find new oceans you have to lose vision of the shore.
Conclusion:
This book is teaches us the art of living.
I and my friend was thirsty in the mid of Sahara desert. I saw a glass half full of water but my friend saw half empty glass.
It is just what we perceive from the happening around us. This book tells that we should able to read signs of omens. Even animals use their instincts to keep themselves safe. Embrace your instincts and dreams and we will see that life is beautiful like in dreams.
I think it was Makthub(It’s written) that I will get the honour of writing 101st review on Alchemist, The - Paulo Coelho.
