“ The lad who has got pure heart…”
When I was 7 years old, as a birthday present, my dad give me the best gift of life, a set of Tintin Books, which till date, I treasure it like anything. I don’t even know how many times I must have read this book. Its one of the most cherished Cartoon character in the history of mankind. I am sharing my nostalgia of this book with you guys in my review.
Let history speak for itself…
The person who gave birth to Tintin character was born in Etterbeek on May 22, 1907(district of urban Brussels) as REMI Georges. The first adventure of Tintin, who is characterised as a reporter appeared in 1929 in a children’s supplement to a Belgian daily newspaper, Le Vingtième Siècle. 1930, Tintin got his complete full fledged book and since than this small but sharp character never looked back and became one of the most cherished and one of the most expensive cartoon character. Till date, buying a Tintin books are very expensive proposition.
“Let my character speak about me…”
TINTIN
The hero and the central character of these adventure is Tintin, whose only name is Tintin and nothing in front and nothing behind. He has no family behind him, and you cant really identify his age from the character. He is neither an adult nor a teenager. Like a normal hero character he fights the evil and readily forgives anyone for the misgiving and will keep his life on stake for helping others. He was named lad with a “pure heart” in his one of the adventures (“Tintin in Tibet”). He is a very intelligent character, who can disguise as anyone and who has the ability to drive cars, planes, bikes, horses etc. Though he doesn’t look a macho man but he fights with his mind and he is trained in French Kick-boxing.
SNOWY
The only other character that has been with Tintin since its birth. Snowy is a companion who can’t be away with his master. This dog is very small and no one could get afraid of him. But he like most dog, he is faithful, intelligent and most important very sweet. Like all other dog, he is mad about bones and this madness has many times put him difficult situations. Inspite of being a dog he has got humanely characters specially his liking for alcohols, especially rum. But when, it comes to beating the enemy, like his master he can become mean and fierce.
CAPTAIN HADDOCK
“Blistering Barnacles…” Ha!! Ha!!! This is Captain Haddock’s favourite abuse and this would have been his statement if he had happened to read my review about Tintin. He was first found on one of Tintin’s adventure ( “The crab with the golden claw”). Though being captain of a ship, have all the characters and behaviour of a Captain. Short-tempered, great enthusiasm and have got lots of abuse under his belt. He has got a dictionary of amazing 200 abuses, which are not known to mankind till date what it means. He is the descendant of the knight François de Hadoque, a navy captain under Louis XIV. One of his favourite abuse is “ Thousand Thundering Typhoons and Blistering Barnacles”
THOMSON & THOMPSON
These are the 2 accident-prone detective twins who have everything in common except their moustaches. These 2 work for Scotland Yard but they are always on some of the other discrete mission. They are most highly unintelligent detectives you may have ever seen.
PROFESSOR CALCULUS
One of the most Highly intelligent, absent minded and hard of hearing Scientist made his debut on Tintin on Tintin’s adventure (“Red Rackham's Treasure). He is the most sort after Scientist who are being hunted by enemy’s and Tintin is always their to help him in this regard.
Apart from this there are many such funny character’s, the list is endless. Some of the Tintin’s great adventures you will love reading are:
Tintin in the Land of the Soviets : This is the first adventure which I am sure very few people have read only 500issues were started and even I have not read it.
Tintin in the Congo
Tintin in America
Cigars of the Pharaoh
