The movie starts with a guy getting beaten up. Then there's an attempt made to kill him with his own gun, but that doesn't work. So he's left to be fed to savage dogs. As the hungry canines run towards him, the guy manages to open his handcuffs(which had been removed from his gun). He then gets up and moves towards the shadows. The dogs run full pelt towards the shadows. only to return tied to each other with handcuffs!
Meet our first hero, Colonel John'Hannibal' Smith [Liam Nelson].
The second hero is a huge dark man with a Mohawk and a mean sneer on his face(I gave him a none too ingenious nickname-Big guy). He walks into a place and beats the hell out of everybody just so he could get to his girl. No no, not a human. . . it's a big black car. He sits in it and drives off.
That's Quinton'Rampage' Jackson as Cpl. Bosco B.A. Baracus.
Then comes'Face'. Lt. Templeton'Faceman' Peck. Handsome, full of witty comments and chest-deep in trouble. . . literally! What trouble? Take a wild guess. . . . he slept with General Taco's wife. For this the general planned to burn him alive. But it's not so easy to kill a hero is it? Hannibal meets Baracus halfway and manages to save Face's life with only a few seconds to spare. But the action doesn't stop here. In fact the action doesn't stop or lag anywhere! Hannibal meets one more of his team mates, Murdock [Sharlto Copley]. This is the fourth hero(my personal favourite). A crazy guy but an awesome pilot. Somehow to save their lives they end up on a helicopter and what follows is hilarious yet amazing mid-air action. At one point Murdock turns the helicopter 360 degrees and Baracus almost falls off! After this he gets a total phobia of flying thanks to Murdock's flying tactics.
The film has action, action and some more action but it was not boring at all! It had generous servings of humour which mad the action bearable. I'm a complete sucker for rom-coms and I only agreed to watch this movie(reluctantly) because mum wanted to. . . only to en up enjoying it whole-heartedly and wanting some more!
Some of the scenes I thought best were-
A) Any scene consisting of Murdock, especially if he is flying!(A plane, I mean)
B) The scene were Baracus shoots the window of a building and the action which ensues.
C) The climax
One of the major cons according to me was the role played by Jessica Biel. It was pathetic! It reminded me of the role Asin played in the movie London Dreams. Absolutely not required. Plus the action was quite confusing sometimes.
But overall - Worth every penny I spent!
