I flew Thai Airways during December 2007 for the sector MAA-BKK-MAA. Check-in was efficient. The flight was new and very comfy. In-flight staff were courteous. I missed the personal screens of bigger aircrafts, but the central screen made up for it. Food was delicious and hot, but sometimes, the air-hostess do not appear to hear when you ask them for a second glass of pepsi(perhaps they are deaf.).
It was during the return trip that my nightmare began. The flight was supposed to leave at 7am in the morning. We woke up at 3am, checked out at 4am, and reached the airport at 5am. No plane, no line. In fact, the monitor said that the flight has been resheduled to 11am! Not one soul was there in the counter. I still remember the ache in my legs when I had to walk to and fro between counters(check-in and help counters were located in opposite ends of the terminal) to find someone who could guide me.
And then it was revealed that the rescheduling happened due to some disturbance in Chennai aiport and nobody even bothered to notify the passengers. How long would it have taken for them to send an sms or an email reg this change. Grrrrrr. we had missed a good night's sleep and breakfast because of their worst customer care. And we had to sit still in the airport chairs for 5 hours. Is it the mistake of our booking agent or the flight customer service?
Well, so that was my sob story. All in all, for the price I paid(Rs. 13, 500 for areturn ticket, incl. all taxes), the flight itself was very good value. I will definitely fly Thai again - but will be very careful when noting down the departure timings!
