I've been commuting between BKK and Dubai for six weeks now. Carrier of choice (frequent flier miles driven) has been Thai.
Thai ain't cheap. They are clean and generally better than average customer service. But those seats in economy - ouch! Sometimes, and more times than not, I couldn't get Biz class so was relegated to cattle class... Those seats in economy - definitely uncomfortable for 6hrs.
Service good and attentive - especially in Dubai check in... Again, as with my experiences commuting last year to dirty Delhi, and now commuting to dusty Dubai, the cabin crew deserve medals for putting up with some of the passengers of non-European or non-Thai origin. Or is it that the DEL and DXB routes attract passengers of less desireable behaviour towards service personnel?
If only Thai would change their seats in economy class and drop their fares to be more competitive then I believe they would be outstanding. Tonight I'm flying to the UK, Biz class on Etihad. Why? Nearly half the price of Thai... It'll be my first experience on Etihad and maybe an interesting comparison.
