Tere Naam is one of the movies that delivers some hard-hitting entertainment. That is, it doesn't have the conventional ways to entertain. It offers a different way of entertaining---a way that might not be completely entertaining in the name of entertainment yet the uniqueness makes it special!

Tere Naam released with the label of a true love story. Salman was returning with this one and it opened to packed-houses with people getting the impression that it might be Salman's true love-story. However it turned out to be some other true love story.

Satish Kaushik's directorial abilities cannot be doubted. The makers promoted the movie very well and it can be said confidently that Satish's name itself can gain some decent opening for the movie. Add to it the king of controversy plus popularity with the masses, Salman Khan, the movie was destined to take a flying star all over.

That it did. It did some great business initially. It was a very uniquely treated love story. It has its share of comedy in the first half. It has its share of romance near the interval. It has its share of intense emotions in the second half. To add to the mix, it had one of the best soundtracks in the year 2003. All the songs went on to become chartbusting hits in all countdowns as well as music and movie awards!

Nothing went wrong and thus the movie did some amazing business initially.

Then, however, a message spread that the movie's end was the weakest link so the makers decided to use a n alternate ending. Some strange developments took place, eventually resulting in making the movie's climax one of the most controversial and hard-to-accept ones in Hindi cinema. The movie's collections too did seemingly slide downwards thanks to such news. Those who managed to catch it later on DVD too felt that the ending was the only flaw of the movie. But climax is a big flaw. It was hard to digest that a then-stablized Radhe (Salman's character) refused to return home and more so, the mental asylum officers dragged him into their van as if he was a criminal. Already the movie had had its share of tragedy, then why was there even more unrealistic and uncalled for tragedy going on, that still remains a mystery!

Yet all said and done, Satish Kaushik did eventually deliver a successful movie afterall. Tere Naam succeeded in proving that on the whole well-packaged movies work regardless of how conventional or uncnventional the screenplay appears to be. Tere Naam also breaks the boundary between class difference and cast difference. Why would conservatives fall in love with non-conservatives, that in Bollywood was shown in a very artificial way before. Tere Naam shows in a realistic way how exactly the wall of differences shatters! A job well done right there. Besides so many above mentioned pros sans the climax prove that on the whole the movie was a class act, something that is hard to deny with even all the critical acclaim being showered on it.

Tere Naam marked the return of a wonderful actor in Salman Khan. There is little known to the public of what is going on with his life's controversies, but the public can't care much. Performances like these make one notice the actor inside Salman rather than the person who is a victim of all sorts of controversies in public. Salman's overacting in some movies like Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega ended long before with some adequate performances in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Yeh Hai Jalwa. But with Tere Naam, he picks up a role that has versatility written all over it. It is an author backed role hard to carry for any big star written off by the critics. Salman, however, proved everyone wrong about his acting abilities with this movie and simply rocked throughout the show in all sorts of sequences. He surely deserved an award in either the public or the critics' category!

Bhoomika Chawla's debut was confident and she got an award for it! She did a perfect job in a non-glamorous role and she is proving her talents and charisma with good performance in even glamorous roles like ''Silsilay''! The supporting cast is adequate.

Overall, Tere Naam is a well made movie and deserved its success. Had it not been for a weak climax, it could've been a trend-setter, perhaps as big as DDLJ!
