Bohooooo. Review on Tera Mera Saath Rahen

I lost all I have typed. Mouth shut should take care of this problem. It was a real long review. I may not be able to write it that long again. This happened to me earlier also. You hit the button to submit and next thing you know all is lost.

ABout the movie....... I dislike the movie. I have seen the movie because there were very good reviews about this movie and people have rated those reviews as ''Highly recommended'' But the movie was a big disappointment. I have not expected it from Manjrekar.

What was bad about the movie? Everything. Its a good subject and even an average director would have done better. But I feel director was trying to make a serial, a thrid grade story telling, poor script, bad direction and .... This seral would have been accepted on Doordarshan easily, atleast for Metro channel.

What I did not like...

1. The movie drags and never tackles the subject at hand.

   
   




2. reality versus movie.... Many people has mentioned about the reality in movie. I feel movie was no where near the reality. All the youth shown were just a mindless bunch of people. They do not care for anybody. they do not respect anybody. They dont care for there parents, they dont care for themselves. They just try to insult elders. But they are good at heart. They treat Anna (a character in movie who is old and is ridiculed by these people) when he faints and so theya re good at heart. This absolves them from all there nonsense acts. They are irresponsible but good at heart, they do not care for anybody but are good at heart, they are insensitive but good at heart....whatever. How many of us are like them? Thank god I dont know many like them. If this is reality, then you can find any kind of characters, can make any kind of movie and it will be close to reality.

   
   

A good movie, close to reality, needs a good sensitive script and some good hard work on characters, not just a bunch of scenes thrown in together.

1. Characters ... All of them are confused and above all is Raj(Ajay devgan). He has a spastic brother and he loves him very much, he cares for his brother to the extent that he decides not to marry. Then comes Sonali Bendre, and all his resolves are shattered and he falls for her. He decides to keep his brother in a rehabilitation centre and complications start.... He has been shown to be running from reality. half the time he is on sea shore figuring out what? He does not try to tackle any of the problem. He runs in the morning with no shoes on, to the home of Sonali to tell her that he does not want to marry her, goes to rehabilitation center to bring his brother back. How close is it to reality? May be an artistic way to show desperation (hahahaha). He loves his brother but he hits him, not once but many times. He has not been shown to repent even once. Some of you might say, this is the way people react in frustration. Think again. He is just a mindless foolish character. Only thing he and a few of his good advisors do know is to sit and drink in the night and cribb about life. In one scene he drags his brother to take him to rehabilitation, and after reaching there he starts worrying about his breakfast, lunch and whatever..

Madhuri(Sonalai bendra) is still better defined character, she does not do any mindless things atleast (she does not do anything in the movie also)

Suman(Namrata Shrodkar) plays the role of a girl who loves Ajay devagn but he does not love her. I like this girl, she is pretty and did well whenever given a chance (see vastav)But here, she is not needed. I dont understand the need of her character. She loves Ajay, but went crazy when he falls for Sonali. She start going out with this mavali guy, get pregnant, lives home and goes to live in a Jhuggi (slum). This mavali guy lives her and runs away. How real is it ? The character is unwanted.

There are other characters like Gupta ji(shivaji), who is frustrated due to his wife (reema lagoo) and son and daughter suman (Namrata Shirodkar). To me none of them needed. They have been given unnecessary attention and are just a means to stretch the movie to the mendatory length of three hours.

1. Wrong Message....... Movie delivers a wrong message. Taking a spastic kid to rehabilitation center is a good idea. But the movie shows it as a bad idea. These kids do need occupational therapy, need medical attention and a social life. The kids like that can not be fully independent in there whole life, but being relived of dependency in doing basic things of life is a good thing. But to director eating food from others hand, peeing in bed is a alright. he does not want to address these matters. Many people will feel after this movie that its there responsibility to feed these kids by there hands and it will be inhuman or selfish to make them self-dependent. Another thing movie delivers is that its not possible to have your personal life if you have a kid like this. its not true. It is additional responsibility but its still possible to have a normal life for yourself. Above all please do give medical attention to these kids and the rehabilitation centers are not bad places. There it becomes possible to have some friends and it helps in there social and mental growth and they do get a social life.

There are some unwanted songs. A couple of songs are ok, but none impressed me. I was lucky to see the Movie on DVD, otherwise it is such a slow and sluggish movie, it would have been impposible to sit thorugh for whole 3 hours of movie. I just kept forwarding and it saved me from headache

I have written a real long review. The main reason is that many of you have written that this movie is a great one. There reviews have been rated as ''Highly Recommended''. But after watching this movie, I feel either I have some flaws or the rating system of Mouth Shut has flaws. I will be careful in future, before I chose a movie based on reviews from Mouth Shut.
