Lucky if you didnt watch these......(2002)

There was no dearth of bad bollywood films in the year 2002. Every Friday would witness the release of atleast a movie which would compete for the “Worst Film ever released”. And this wasn’t just the case of B-grade and C-grade films. Even the so called Star studded movies from big banners were also major disappointments. No wonder there was only a handful of movies which did reasonably well at the boxoffice. All other disasters deserved to be disasters and they got the right response from the audience. Its not that I watched most of them but I did torture myself by seeing a few of those hyped films. Here’s a pick of few movies from those which I won’t recommend even to the person I despise the most.

Jaani Dushman

I’m sure the people who made this would be in the list of “ Jaani Dushmans of whoever watched this movie. Starring almost anybody and everybody in Bollywood, I’m still wondering how the so called STARS agreed to act in such a blunder film.Anybody on this earth having a little commonsense wouldn’t have made the mistake of re-launching ( if you can call that) his sons career with such an idiotic movie like Mr Raj Kumar Kohli did. The movie is all about 2 snakes that do nothing but dance and romance only to be cursed by a sadhu as a result of which the female dies & gets reincarnated in the 21st century & gets killed again and then with the help of our old snake mate, seeks revenge on all those whom she thinks is responsible for her death! All the 30+ heroes in the movie from Akshay Kumar to Suniel Shetty are shown as college going guys ( no no…they are not doing research or Phd) and the less is said about the movie, the better.

Kya Dil Ne Kaha

Starring Tushar Kapoor and Esha Deol, this is a total washout. Wished I would have saved my 10 dirhams which I had spend in getting a CD of this senseless movie. Its all about the “ modern Khayalaat of the hero who believes in living together V/s the traditional Khayalaat of the heroine who strongly believes in the system of marriage. How many times have we seen the heroine all decked up as a bride to marry a third person, runs into the heroes arms(of course with the consent of family and well-wishers and most of the times, the groom’s too.) to end the film? Esha Deol is a pain to watch and so is Tushar Kapoor. Wonder what could have happened if these two weren’t star kids?

Aap Mujhe Ache Lagne Lage

Much was hyped about this movie with the lead pair of Kaho naa pyar hai. Vikram Bhatt proved that he’s very good in directing copies out of Hollywood movies (Kasoor, Raaz) and is pathetic when it comes to dishing out an original.(what??????????). The story is the oft repeated one of Boy saving girl from gangsters......girl happens to be a don’s daughter.......don doesn’t like the boy.......gets girl engaged to some crap....boy fights.......wins the girl in the end with the blessings of don......Do I need to tell more?

Pyaasa

Models don’t make good actresses, it is said. I cant speak about the whole lot but I’m very sure that Yukta Mukhey perfectly fits that saying. “Terrible” is one word that can be used to describe her performance in the awful movie Pyaasa. Both the leading guys Sulfi Syed and Aftab Shivdasani were equally awful. The movie had a horrible plot, horrible direction, horrible music and equally horrible performances. I pity myself for having seen this disaster.

Maine Dil Tujhko Diya

The youngest brother of Salman Khan tries his hand in acting and what a mishap! The film had nothing new to offer. The film had the same irritating story line of Poor boy meets rich girl……girl’s father opposes……..ropes in a gangster to handle the boy…….. The debutants Sohail Khan and Sameera Reddy could’ve chosen a much better launch pad if they were really serious about making it big in the Bollywood.

Other horrible movies that I had to sit through are Kitne Door Kitne Paas , Chalo Ishq Ladayen , Ek Chhotisi Love Story , Hum Kisise Kum Nahin , Jeena Sirf Merre Liye (& a few more)

For those who haven’t seen these dreadful films, my sincere advise is Plz stay away from these. It’s a real head ache even to think about these movies & frankly speaking, my head is almost bursting after recollecting them. There have been much worse movies released in 2002 but I’m glad that I didn’t take the trouble to watch those.
