Do you need talent to direct films ? Of course you do !! But it’s talent of a different kind. I mean you do need talent to 1] fool people to come and pay to watch your film
2] Continue to make pathetic films and still earn name, fame and money
3] Continue to give headache to the public and in turn increase the sales of “ Aspirin” tablets!
So friends I present to you the ten directors’ that we could definitely do without.
while compiling this list I have taken into account only those directors who have at least been consistent in their efforts-that is , consistent in giving us headaches. I have left out those who have made just one bad film, as I believe everyone can be excused one mistake. After all, as they say, to err is human.
Indra Kumar This brother of actress Aruna Irani has delivered some hits at the box office but so what ? His films are downright bad-loud, melodramatic and technically inferior. Don’t know why Aamir Khan acts in his films so much. Maybe because he gave Aamir a much needed hit in the form of “ Dil “ after Aamir acted in some pathetic films.

David Dhawan Got to give this guy credit ! He helped revive the career of Govinda and numerous film financers and producers. In fact he a given birth to the “ David Dhawan school of filmmaking “ whose students specialize in crass, down market , below the belt films all in the name of comedy. Dhawan wants to win the oscar for India someday. I only hope my great – great - great grandchildren is alive to see that day !

Saawan Kumar Tak Do I really need to say anything about this guy ? Just one thing maybe – Saawan Kumar Pardesi Ho Jaye !!

Sohail Khan This guy had everything at home – a great scriptwriter cum dialogue writer cum screenplay writer in the form of his father ( Salim Khan ) , a superstar in the form of his brother ( Salman Khan ) and a financer in the form of a friend ( Bunty , if I am not mistaken ) . Still all he could manage to do is direct three pathetic films –the most horrible being “ Hello Brother “!! Surely a better actor than a director

Darmesh Darshan A fluke hit in the form of “ Raja Hindustani “ – and even this was an “ inspired “ version of Jab Jab Phool Khile - made his career. Ever since then he started believing that he is some kind of a great director, which he clearly is not. He believes in making “ Emotional “ movies – in other words films where the heroine and in some cases even the hero weeps all day long !!

Anil Sharma Only god and probably Sunny Deol knows how he got the chance the direct a big film like “ Gadar “ . A rather nice film till you saw the climax.But his track record has never been good and so he is back to his usual style with “ Hero –Love story of a spy“ . Uff….Heard that a certain Brosnon was interested in doing this film till Mr Deol got in …

Mehul Kumar The Big B gave him the chance to direct his comeback film ( Don’t know who advised Mr Bachchan to do that !!! ) and this guy made “ Mrityudaata “. What more can you say ?

Kaizad Gustad His debut film – Bombay Boys – made lot of noise , mainly because it was what they say a Hatke fillum . But nonetheless it was a bad film. If you thought “ Bombay Boys “ was a shocking film , wait till you see his latest film – Boom . He had great resources at his disposal but he messed it up big time. Interesting to see what he directs now- provided, of course, he finds a producer willing to back him!

Vikram Bhatt This guy has actually done it ! Yes, he has finally found the winning formula ! Wanna know what it is ? Ok . Take a DVD of a Hollywood film and lift it scene by scene , ask Mukesh Bhatt to produce it and then ask Nadeem – Shravan or Anu Malik to score the music .For the actors just give a call to Bipasha Basu , Dino Moreo , John Abraham and Aftab and find out who has the time to do the film . Invest 3.5 to 4 crore in the film and Voila ! You make a small profit ! A great business , this is !!

Tanuja Chandra A great pedigree but no talent . Her sister is a respected film journalist , brother is a big time author and mother a great writer but she it seems inherited nothing ! And oh yes , she studied filmmaking at the US . In fact like Vikram Bhatt , she also follows Hollywood a bit too seriously. Almost all her films have been lifted from Hollywood flicks but guess what? They still have not clicked at the box office . Too sad !!
