I know what some of you are sure to be thinking---here she goes again...but, this time, I'm not going to rave unnecessarily about the band. My object is to introduce you to the greatest rock album ever (there I go again...)

This is one of Pearl Jam's earliest albums...many would think it was their first because this is the one that first made them famous. It came out in 1991.

Before I go on to review the album, let me share some PJ trivia with all of you. Since this was their introductory album of sorts, let me give you an introduction to this Seattle-born band. Stone(rhythm and lead) met Jeff(bass) and they started jamming and doing shows together. They were soon joined by Eddie(lead vocals, lyrics), Dave(percussion), Mike(lead guitar, piano) and the rest is history. Pearl was apparently Eddie's grandmother's name and his favourite things as a child were the jams she used to make. Hence, the name...Pearl Jam.

Getting back to the album...it has eleven tracks. (The title 'Ten' signified the coming together of ten eyes, ears and hands...)

Here's the track listing:

Once

Even flow

Alive

Why go

Black

Jeremy

Oceans

Porch

Garden

Deep

Release

Black is my all-time favourite PJ track. It's sung with such depth and pathos that it sends shivers up your spine. You actually feel sad for the guy...

Once, Even flow, Why go, Jeremy, and Porch are louder, livelier tracks. One inevitably finds oneself singing along. Needless to mention, great https://lyrics...

Alive, Garden, and Release are, again, sadder, slower, and melancholic.

A special mention for Oceans---it's easy-listening...beautiful https://lyrics. Vedder's sung it marvelously, it's absolutely uncontrolled and unmeasured, resulting in this soothing, free-flowing song.

Pearl Jam fans would already have this album. Anyone who's thinking of listening to PJ must pick up this album...you'll fall in love with the band, and their music, of course.
