My Favourite Movies. Review on Ten Favorite Hollywood Movies

There are a number of movies I have seen over the years, a few which have made an impact and it would be difficult to strictly rate them. These then are my favourites in no particular order. Yes, I know it is not'Top Ten' but serial numbers 2 and 7 have two movies each!

1. The Diary of Anne Frank - Who doesn't know this story of Anne Frank who being a Jew had to go into hiding during World War II and dies just before liberation. Read the book as well.

   
   




2. Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Both are worth watching, with catchy songs.

   
   




3. The Bridge on the River Kwai - A WWII film of the 50s with great performance from Alec Guinness. The'whistling song' is catchy and remains in memory.

   
   




4. The Sound of Music - The opening shot of the mountains is fantastic and all the songs are memorable.

   
   




5. Casablanca - A classic black and white movie starring Humphrey Bogart, with the famous misquoted line'Play it again Sam'

   
   




6. Top Hat starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Roberts. Really good tap dancing by Fred Astaire

   
   




7. Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy - Used to watch a lot of these in the cinemas when I was a school kid. Also used to be screened in school during special movie days on Saturdays. Need to be'revived' from the VCD/DVD for the new generation.

   
   

Some other movies which come to mind include Mackenna's Gold, The Longest Day, films starring Terrance Hill and Bud Spencer, Herby, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, The Eagle has Landed, Finding Nemo etc.
