1.**schindler's list
directed by speilberg this biographical movie tells the story of oskar schindler, a shrewd german industrialist who duped the german army to save the lives of 1100 jews.it stars liam neeson** in the title role and ben kingsley playing izaak stern his jew advisor.
it is a very significant movie and gives quite an accurate account of the holocaust and the atrocities of the nazis towards the jews during ww 2.
2.saving pvt. ryan
directed by speilberg again, this movie also based on world war 2 describes the journey of a band of eight us soldiers led by john miller(tom hanks)through war ravaged france who are sent on a mission to rescue private james ryan who is the only surviving brother in a family of 4 brothers.
the war scenes are very well shot especially the omaha beach scene which was later hailed as the best war scene ever shot..
3.pearl harbour
this movie tells the story of two friends danny(josh hartnett) and rafe(ben affleck) and how they grow up and live their dream of being pilots for the us army.it has a love story where both friends fall for the same women evelyn(kate beckinsale) against the backdrop of japaneese bombings on pearl harbour.the japaneese attacks on pearl harbour have been filmed very well..the love story that runs side by side is well told.the lead actors have played their part well

1.american pie double
ok I watched these movies as as a teen and found them really enjoyable and even today when these movies are playing on tv I really enjoy them..it tells the adventures of four teenagers and how they make a pact to lose their virginity before they graduate..the sequel american pie 2 follows them on their adventures when they all have a summer party at a beach guest house.
2.liar liar
starring jim carrey this hilarious comedy shows what happens to a lawyer when he suddenly discovers he cant lie anymore..jim carrey as usual is amazing in the movie.
3.good morning vietnam
starring robin williams as adrian cronaeur, a disc jockey on armed forces, saigon, good morning vietnam is a very thought provoking comedy which tells the story of how a disc jockey brings smiles to the soldiers who are fighting a war they dont really want to fight.

1.lotr trilogy
well this epic fantasy series by peter jackson ranks right up there in the list of fav movies of every moviegoer as well as critic..amazing performances from everyone in the cast, background score, the breathtaking locales and everything else about the movie makes it a must watch.
*2.harry potter series
the boy wizard harry potter's adventures are a delight to watch on screen and I have enjoyed every movie more than the book particularly **the goblet of fire which is the fouth movie of the franchise.
well this series has everything..comedy, drama, romance, action, adventures galore so they dont disappoint you anytime.

marlon brando, robert duvall, al pacino, robert di niro directed by francis coppola in a movie which is an adaptation of mario puzo's book of the same name..do I need to say more?
simply put, the best movie of all times as suggested by many critics and moviegoers all over the world..

The story follows two detectives, one retiring and one his replacement, jointly investigating a series of ritualistic murders inspired by the seven deadly sins.it's a fast paced thriller and stars my fav actor morgan freeman as as detective somerset, the aging detective and has a young brad pitt playing his young partner..

this thriller directed by **scorsese and starring robert di niro went on to become a cult and di niro's portrayal of travis bickle a mentally disturbed, insomaniac taxi driver in the post vietnam new york was hailed as the best role of his career.the movie quote "you talkin to me" can be called one of the memorable movie quotes
horror/super-natural
1.the green mile
this serious movie is a adaption of the novel of the same name from stephen king.it stars tom hanks as paul edgecombe an officer in charge of death row inmates in an american prison.the guards called their domain the green mile.How paul deals with the eerie happenings after the arrival of john coffey, an almost 7 feet tall american african convicted for the rape and murder of two seven year olds is what the movie is all about.
this movie is a must watch for lovers of serious cinema and it's a touching tale with a very beautiful ending.
2.the sixth sense
directed by m night shyamlan this movie tells the story of dr malcolm crowe(bruce willis) a child psychologist and how he helps a disturbed young boy cole overcome his fears and regain normalcy.
the twist ending and the acting by bruce willis and the child actor makes this movie a nice watch.
drama/romance
1.shawshank redemption
another of my favorites.whatever I write I wont be able to convey how significant this movie is and why I like it so much.it stars tim robbins as andy dufrene and morgan freeman.what I can say is, if you haven't watched it yet, please do...
2.forrest gump
starring tom hanks in the title role this movie tells the story of forrest gump a mentally retarded person with an iq of 75 and his adventures thorough 1960's and 1970's america where he meets historical figures, fights in the war, becomes a gozillionare and his love story with his childhood sweetheart jinny.
this movie is one of the best you will see and tom hanks is awesome in the title role.the movie has an undercurrent of humour which always brings a smile to your face.i gurantee this movie will cheer you up every single time..repeated viewings recommended...
some more movies that i would recommend are **ocean trilogy, american beauty, monalisa smile, dead poet's society, munich, road trip, euro trip, there's something about mary, moulin rouge, rocky series, dude where's my car, mrs doubtfire, jaws, jurassic park trilogy, indiana jones series, pirates trilogy, a beautiful mind, the cider house rules, pulp fiction, casino, the goodfellas, ring 1&2, bull durham, when harry met sally, silence of the lambs, fargo, the fight club, the aviator, collateral, departed.
i might have missed out some genres and some great movies but since I haven't watched a lot of old english movies.there are very few classics on the list.i have excluded sci-fi and action and that's because I am not a very big fan of these genres, and I haven't watched a lot of sci-fi or action movies.however I have enjoyedminority report, matrix trilogy, i robot, die hard, transporter 1 and 2, casino royale, mi trilogy from the sci-fi and action genres.
