The author is a computational science at Microsoft research and in this book he describes the situation that the world is right now and he speculated what might happen in the future.
His fear is that the planet earth will not be able to sustain in life if the population keeps growing, especially if we go past 10 billion and according to his book we are potentially going to end up at 28 billion. He goes through everything that we are currently doing to ruin the planet and all things that we think are helping, but are not actually doing anything and some possible and highly unlikely solutions.
There are lots of blank pages and short sentences which I think help for this topic and there are lots of numbers in this book too, and some daunting information so its good to take it in in small bits.
The entire book took me around an hour to read and there are lots of pictures in this novel, which had quite an impact on me more than the actual text in this novel for some reason. And I also like how the ending goes from the white to gray to black to represent the end of the world.
There are a couple of sources online that are calling this novel ill researched and which you should take it with a grain of salt which I usually do with the book of such nature.
I am not an expert in this field, but you can assume that the author is but there are lots of people saying a completely different thing and it is quite difficult to figure out what is truth and what is just an extreme speculation.
I am not sure whether I will recommend this book the problem it tries to tackle is an interesting one but fails to make it personal.
