Top 10

2005 saw many movies hit . thrillers, family entertainers, blood, gore and revenge . the new subject which entered 2005 was 'mental disorders' all dealing with grey matter - chandrmukhi, anniyan, ghajini are few.

village , panchayats, nattamai subjects , 'love, elope , run, strong love with illogical scenes' subjects found no place in 2005

10 - english karan was a good comedy movie with vadivelu and sathyaraj combination.

9 - kana kanden was a good family entertaininer with hero outwittung the villain in a intelligent manner . generally the heros avenge the villain by blood , gore and revenge . but srikanth approached it in a different manner . songs were good and for no reason the movie dint become a big hit.

8 - kannadi pookal was a emotional drama with parthiban and kaveri in lead roles. An it maturely handled the rather unique subject of sibling jealousy. The focus on positive feelings made the film touching rather than manipulative inspite of the tragedy that drove it. Ashwin gave a strong performance and carried the film on his shoulders

7- Thirupachi vijay entertainer which has first half family drama with brother sister sentiments and second half every inch vijay vijay and vijay. with this film vijay become a mania for 5 songs, 5 fights with 1 kuthu pattu and punch dialogue. It was entertaining throughout with vijay dealing with the baddies in a clever manner.it was an enjoyable feel good movie.

6- Arindhum ariyamalum.''theepidika song' is more than enough for the movie to be a hit. aryas acting, good screenplay, natural dialogues, prakashraj acting eveything was good and it was a hit in b and c centers. arya became a heart throb after this movie.

5- Kanda naal mudhal as advertised 'morning cup of coffee' is a feel good movie with racy dialogues, good acting by prasanna and laila. good songs tuned by yuvan.though lailas character was not framed correctly her charm and acting has stolen the show. for debutant director priya this was real break .unexpected , unhyped hit movie

4- Thavamai Thavamirundhu - Cheran's heartfelt ode to a father's love was emotional and touching , Down-to-earth and realistic. he took us down memory lane like autograph without unnecessary sentiments or melodrama. The segment where Rajkiran and Saranya enjoy the sunset years and saranya taking care of her sons after they come back from hostel were truly exhilarating. but the movie was very slow and not that entertaining as 'autograph' and the heroine was also not that captivating.

3.Chandramukhi typical rajani movie without rajani punch dialogues nor cigaratee lighting sessions. Fazil's Manichithrathazhu was tailored to suit Rajnikanth, who plays the role of a psychiatrist. The suspenseful story, funny comedy, good music and a terrific climax(with Rajni enjoying himself as a ruthless king) made this Tamil cinema's biggest hit ever. Jyothika acting was really gripping and 'laka laka' became a big hit.

2.Ghajini - surya starring with nayan and asin. An interesting concept, of how a patient with short-term memory of only 15 minutes goes about finding the guys who killed his wife. But the delightful romance between Surya and Asin almost made up for it. Surya played a businessman as well as he played the patient and Asin stole our hearts with her timing in comedy . but murugadoss confused stml, twin villains, business tycoon etc but the screen play was good which made the film to hit in b and c centre in tamil and telgu.

1 - Anniyan After the disastrous Boys, Shankar returned to his favorite vigilante theme, spiced up with multiple personality disorder. Some glaring holes in logic were covered up with the director's trademark fast pacing and elaborate staging of sequences. Vikram differentiated well between three characters and the scenes where he had to switch between them was really captivating .
