Whenever you log on to mouthshut site, you can easily find a review on Kyunki Saas bhi....., Kaisa yeh pyaar hai, Fame Gurukul and lots of other serials on a daily basis.
Though I am not in touch with all these serials but by reading reviews on all these topics I can easily figure out what's going on small screen.
So today I thought, Why not to take all of you to flash back before the era of satellites channels, and to remind you about
The serials which were so different and live unlike these Saas bahu's Natak and same kind of stories.
I bet, people of my generation will be having some trace of these memorable serials in their mind. And as these were my favorites during that time and today too these serial will also hold a special place in their memories.
So let’s start our journey towards our bachpan(for my age group people out here)
#1. Neenv
This was one of my favorite serial on Doordarshan.The serial was about a school with a message how school helped in Building foundation(NEENV) of a student.
Neenv was about life in school and hostel.Neenv showed some very true to life incident which may happen to anyone during one’s school days.
Then there were two groups in the school one bad and one good, rivalry between them ,the competition between them.Neenv serial also dealt with the problem of drugs at that time.
I don’t remember the star cast but this serial was a hit that time
Many serial came up with same theme during yesteryears like Hip Hip Hurray ,school days etc.But Neenv was so different at that time.
#2. Sigma
This serial was far ahead from its time during those days. I still remember we used to play Sigma Sigma with my friends at that time. Serial was about the creature on some different planets and there enemies there. I guess everyone who remembers this serial will also be remembering that HELIUM attack episode too.
This serial was India's first Science fiction serial.
#3. Buniyaad
I even remember the names of many of the characters and we also had a short poem which went something like -
Lajoji (Anita Kanwar) ne khaya badaam,
usme se nikla Haveliram (Alok Nath),
Haveliram ne kholi almaari,
usme se nikli Veerawaali (Kiran Juneja),
Veerawaali ne khaya paan, usme se nikla Vrishbhaan (Vijayendra Ghatge)...
It had so many other actors - Dalip Tahil, Kanwaljeet, Mazhar Khan, Soni Razdan, and some more.
#4. Indradhanush
Indradhanush was a story about a boy who discovers a time Machine ,and with help of this time machine he travels ancient period as well as in future.
I still remember an episode in which the boy lands up in year 2500 + and gets all food in form of capsule. To eat rice he just has to break a capsule in the bowl and boiled rice was there.
#5. Byomkesh Bakshi
Who can forget this mesmerizing detective serial ,Byomkesh Bakshi.Byomlkesh Bakshi was based on the character created by Sharadhindhu Bandhopadhyay.Byomkesh Bakshi ,a Bengali detective was played by Rajat Kapoor.
First episode aired was on a person who used to kill with his old fashioned clock on a bicycle. There were other cases too like matchstick one, man walking on sticks, the fan and many more.
This serial was remembered very long for its Mysteries, and the tact’s of the mail lead Byomkesh Bakshi to solve them.
#6. Vikram aur Baitaal
''Jaldi bol Vikram,Nahi to mei tere sar ke tukde tukde kar dunga''.
Whenever we think of this serial ,this is the first line that strike in our minds. A serial by Ramanand saagar,Raja vikramadithya played by aroon govil and betaal (don’t know the name).Lots of stories with messages and with a question of baitaal to Raja vikram,which in turn become the escape route for baitaal at end of each episode.
#7.Ramayana
The great mythological epic turned into serial by Ramanad Sagar.Very first kind of its attempt and bang on target. Every Sunday morning at 9 am all cities seems like curfew bound. You can’t even found a single person moving what an impact of this great serial
Characters played by Arun Govil,Deepika,Dara Singh and many more.
Ramayana was the first attempt to create mythological serial and it turned to be a great hit. Every one came to know What Ramayana was.

#8.Surbhi
A serial showing culture of India from all four corners of the country. Hosted by Siddhartha Kak and Renuka Sahane.This serial was very informative. This serial made me aware of so many facts which I never knew.
And who can forget that plethora of postcards at end of each episode. Tons and tons of postcards were received by Surbhi team.
I remember how many postcards I have send to surbhi.
#9. Dekh Bhai Dekh
How can a list be completed without a comedy show
Dekh bhai Dekh was one of the most hilarious show tilll date I remember.I never missed a single episode of this one. Every character in this serial was having his/her own style. Remember Shekhar Suman,Navin Nischal,Sushma Seth,Deven Bhojani and lilliput

A special mention of that HYPNOTISM Episode, in which shekhar Suman learns to hypnotize but forget to remove its effect
Remember when he turns Kirti to sanju and Sanju to Kirti and says ''Kirti tu sanju hai ,kirti tu sanju hai ''
And Liliput saying ''DEKHAAAAAA''
#10. Colgate Top 10
This is the only series in my list which was not aired on Doordarshan
And that too only of because TITU SINGH and TONY SINGH,played by Pankaj Kapoor and Satish Kaushik.The duo was hit by the dialogue ''BADA KAUN,CHOTA KAUN''.Pankaj Kapoor was stunning in the comic role. His expression made people laugh for a long time and ditto for Satish Kaushik.
This series I only remember because of TITU and TONY SINGH

That was my list of some memorable serials
P.S.Though I was not able to elaborate all this serials to very good extent, as I have a very limited memory.But I guess I was able to bring these serials back in memories to some extent.
