Believe it or not but Yesudas is uncomparable, he is a miracle of melody directly sent by Goddess Saraswati.
Nobody is able to produce that zenith of melody which he is capable of.
Because of his mellifluous voice Musician Ravindra Jain once said that if he is ever to regain his vision, the first face he would like to see will be of Yesudas.
His stature can be understood from an instance of singing a song 'Shadajne paya hai vardan' for unreleased movie'Tansen' this was the song which even Mod. Rafi refused to sing as it was very difficult. According to Yesudas it was one of the most difficult song he ever sang, after recording he fell ill.
From AR Rahman(who opined that voice of Yesudas is the best in the world), SPB, P Sushila, S Janki, all the renowned people of music arena have the same views about him as any ardent fan of Yesudas.
For Yesudas fans I would suggest to listen, Pramadavanam(Malayalam), Surmayee akhiyon men, ( Hindi), Bhagwat gita by Yesudas, Tulasidas krit Ramcharitmanas by Yesudas, .Songs of movie Sargam. and many more.then realize.if anybody other than Yesudas can match that excellence? When you listen his songs you get solace and peace.
Infact he deserves Bharat Ratna.No doubt he he is our Jewel.our National Treasure.
Without being biased and being a regular listener of his music continuously for more than 20 years I can say he is simply uncomparable and miracle of music. I am from north india I can better judge his brilliance as his mother tongue is Malayalam, inspite of that his pronunciation of Sanskrit and hindi is amazing.He is tuely Bharat Ratna, Hriday Ratna of true lovers of Indian Music.

People in entire India have very little knowledge about the genius and achievements of Yesudas, people in south India only know about him and his achievements. The secret of his magical singing is his God Gifted Voice, ability to create modulations that match 100% to human emotions(as per the requirement of the song), classical knowledge and its ultimate use, his understanding of the nature of song, his humbleness, and more importantly his attachment with God.thats how we got immortal creations like Harivrasanam, Pramadavanam, Surmayee akhiyon men, Ka karoon sajni, Prakrati ke kan kan men sangeet, Madhuban khushbu deta hai, Sunayana, Dil ke tukde tukde kar ke, .and more.and more. For a north indian like me he has been a curious puzzle as how he can sing hindi songs like this.I mean to say if he sang Sunayana. then right from the start of aalap till the completion of the song his singing creates picture infront of the eyes of the listener.if he says .pyari hain foolon ki pankhurian par teri palkon se pyari kahan.in the same song. then the listener feels he himself is involved in that.means a listner feels. oh. these are the same soft feelings which I have but I cant express.! In indian music history while most of the big names will be compared with someone or the other, I say on the basis of my listening/experiences of his singing that people will not find a single singer who can be compared with Yesudas.
Such was the impact of his singing that a sleeping Raghavendra Tripathi used to jump from his bed as soon as the initial few words of his song fell in my ear which was being aired on doordarshan in some sunday morning program, or any other similar occasion.
His voice and me are as related as magnet and iron and I hope the same for any other genuine fan of him. Yesudas may never believe that some hindi speaking north Indian can be so fond of his voice and knows his value. Fans of him in North India are second to none in adoring him.God can not do unjustice to him as he has sung endless no. of religious songs with his heart and soul in different languages including hindi.
Beleive me, the greatest expert of singing in sanskrit can not sing with the approach Yesudas has sung in -Tulsidas Krit Ramcharitmanas Album
