There were reasons when I brought this CD from Music World in cochin. I had never heard the music before. Brought it bcoz of the Title and also the Singer was Hari saab. So there was no second thought. But I have never regretted on it. It has been worth it. Thats also the reason why I am writing a review on one of him album titled 'DIL AISA KISINE MERA TODA' under this section. Hope you people will pardon me for this.
This is a frank musical wallowing in the pain of loss of love. Mind you, it doesn't contain any version of the film Amanush's number by Kishore Kumar from which the album derives its name.
The song Tumhe bhool jaoon yeh hota nahin, koie waqt ho dard sota nahin,replete with catchy couplets like Yeh woh phasal hai jo uge khud ba khud, Koie dard ke beej bota nahin, sets the pace for the eight songs of this album which are broodingly sad without touching the really raw nerves of pain. The music by Triveni-Bhawani is good.
Indeed, the best numbers on this album, which are evocative of the unbearable pain of lost love, are the two duets by Hariharan and Jaspinder Narula. Their duet Kho gaye hai is truly poignant.
Jaspinder Narula has a voice that seems to be etching each word deep into the listener's memory, reflecting the depth of her own feelings. Her voice soars as it scales the higher notes, albeit the effort shows, while Hariharan's voice appeals particularly when it explores the lower octaves.
Both the voices are wet with emotions. The lyrics of this song penned by Zaheer Anwar are beautiful with lines like Us jagah par jahan mile they hum,pyar ka har nishan baaki hai. Shaher se door us ilake mein, chudion ki dukaan baki hai. Humen milkar jo geet gaye hai, aaj bhi uski taan baaki hai.
Raat failegi to yaadon ke ujale honge, zakhm khilne ke andaaz nirale honge is the other impressive duet Hariharan sings with Jaspinder Narula. The combination reminds you of the old Jagjit Singh-Chitra Singh duets in their poignancy.
Of the Hariharan solos, I loved Qaisar-ul-Zafri's number Mayusi ki barf. It has lines like Tanhayi ki bojhal raatein, pehle bhi to barsi thi, zakhm nahin they itne katil, gham itne bedard nahin tha/ aaj se pehle, dil mein yaaron itna thanda dard na tha. The background music of this song is excellent, especially the graver passages.
The album concludes with a light song, Mere pyaar ki patang kat gaya, begana koyee loot liya. Hariharan impresses chiefly by the clarity of his rendition. His voice too is as full and mellow as a heavy shower of rain.
Definitely this album has been made keeping in mind the impending advent of the rains all over India.
