'Now, we talked to Joan Hanover. She and her husband, George, were visiting with us. They are near retirement — retiring — in the process of retiring, meaning they're very smart, active, capable people who are retirement age and are retiring.'

-George W. Bush, Alexandria, Va., Feb. 12, 2003

I have been writing this review since ages now. However after other reviews which I either had left mid way or began before this got onto MS! Finally I realized that this poor review too deserved its glory under the sun! So I am back into my top 10 moods(no, not that moods), to list my top favorite rap chik songs of all times. One thing – There may be thousand others better than this one, however these are my favorites at the moment!

Pehla Nasha - The Slow Heart Stopper

Only the crazy wont like this song and the way its picturised! The slow motion song does a great job of showing pehla love and all that! Farah Khan’s debut was indeed a splendid one I must say! I particularly loved pooja bed(i) in this one song…wish she wasn’t so shy in her frock! –(From the cycling Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar)

Dola re Dola - Two Beautiful Ladies, One Great Dance

Some may hate Devdas, but don’t take away sheer grandeur of this song. The imagination, the landscape of this song and two beautiful ladies singing and dancing, ahh! My heart goes down to them! I wish they were singing for me instead of that moron who lost beauty and the beautiful! -(From the incredibly grand Devdas)

Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya - Love Reigns Supreme in the Times of Maharajah

What was imperfect about this song? It just didn’t last long that’s all! Again, the grandeur and the mother of beauty – Madhubala challenging Akbar while a meek Salim just looks upon her love declaring everything! Man the music, the dance and the picturisation of the entire song makes me be the Tansen! The effect of the song is more only if you watch the classical interlude to the song….to me that is one of the best classical entries to a song; and dance for the tune did complete justice. –(From the majestic Mughal-E-Azam)

Yeh Haseen Vadiyan, Yeh Khula Aasman - Switzerland, anyone?

Mani Ratnam, the numero uno director of Indian cinema proved that you don’t need to dance in Switzerland to get your song right! Here is one song taken in our very own Kulu-Manali(shown as Kashmir in song) and doesn’t it look magnificent! Of course credit goes to Rahman too for coming up with a gem of a song. The other ones which were well picturized from this movie were * Roja Janeman, Dil he chota sa.* -( From the beautifully shot Roja)

Dil hain sanam dil - The Lake Effect

Mani Ratnam Again folks! This was again one helluva song. Set in a ancient lake, the song had it all – great classical singing, erotica(well small amount), and a great lighting effect. Notice how the colors and lights have been used in this song to give a copper feel to this song. The quick zooming camera motion adding that zing to the song! It remains still one of my favorite songs. Other one from this movie was  Chitralekha -( From the crappy Chor Chor)

Pachai Nirame -Oh Color, Oh Colors, Take Me with You

Don’t shoot me for Mani Ratnam yet again, instead watch this song! Forgive me too for this is a Tamil song, but this list would be incomplete without this INCREDIBLE song! The song lyrics describe a woman through colors, and the picturisation of the song goes through every color described in the lyric. Every color in the song has been well chosen and the way the song moves through all the colors is simply amazing. If you haven’t seen this one, you have MISSED a MASTERPIECE song.  For information, the very song was shoddily shot in Switzerland for Saathiya…arrgghh! –(From the simple Alai payuthey,  Hindi goers- Saathiya).

Jiya Jale -I Jale for Preeti

Please fellas, don’t get your guns ready….err…its Mani again! Mani’s use of Kerala(not karela) and the classical dance makes this song a beautiful song to see. Of course, people may argue about the presence of Shah Rukh in the Song, but I was drooling for Preeti. The song is beautiful too to hear! See Mani’s brilliance in using a boat with just a single light during a part of the song! Other superb ones from the same movie is Chaiyyan Chaiyyan -(From the deadly movie Dil Se)

Chuku Buku Rai Le - Pulsating, Foot-tapping-stopping-loose Dance

Prabhu Deva zoomed to fame with this song. Anyone who has seen this song in Tamil will agree that Prabhu Deva gives out a brilliant dance performance in this song. The setting wasn’t very great, but its just Deva’s break dance and splendid beats of the song which make it a great song to watch. Chiranjeevee made a mock of himself by attempting to do this in Hindi version! –(From the Gyrating chiranjeevi’s Gentleman)

Woh Ladki hain kahan -The Blue Blues Song

Blue dominates every scene of Dil Chahta Hain.(Yes every scene!), except of course this song. The song played as a tribute to yesteryears in Bollywood is amazing. Original, entertaining and well executed, this is one hell of a song to watch. Watch Saif doing the Shammi act  in the beginning or Sonali doing a Sridevi! Simply hilarious! Other good ones from the same ones include Jaane Kyon and Tahnhayee. -( From the college classic Dil Chahta Hain)

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Tho - I fell in Love with That Girl!

Doesn’t Manisha look gorgeous in the song. An all time classic R.D. Burman song, this is a song which has lasted beyond its time for me. The beautiful way in which Manisha is shown laughing, running, whatever is so cute and beautiful! By the way, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was majorly responsible for all the aesthetic beauty you see in this movie, especially the songs. –( From the movie whose entire credits rolled in Hindi except the  name of the movie – 1942  A love Story).

Well here are my top 10 songs! I am sure there must be more. But for me, songs which convey the meaning or are impressive in their outlook are my choice. I hate songs in Switzerland – find it a poor excuse to our own beautiful mother land! So there, get your pens flowing buddies, I wanna know what you like!
