With the release of Moulin Rounge and Chicago, Hollywood and'The Oscars' is totally going gaga over the musicals. Though a lot of Musicals have come time and again, but still musicals is a new phenomenon in Hollywood, where Action and Thrillers have ruled the roost. But coming back to Bollywood Scenario, their has always been musicals. Music and dance is not just a part of Bollywood, but that our culture. It separates us from the rest.
But when it comes to selecting a few(10) best picturised sons, 'I' personally found Bollywood in a state of drought, but still managed to find 9 which'I' personally rate very highly, leaving one choice to the readers to oblige.
So, the choices are, in alphabetical order:
=> Dola Re Dola
OST: Devdas
One of the best dance sequence ever picturised. It has a lot of sequence taken from Bangali and Oriya dance. Looks amazing on Silver screen, with two of the best dancers on it, Aishwarya and Madhuri.
=> Ek Do Teen
OST: Teezab
One song got Madhuri, to the limelight, later to be recognized as one of the best ever been. Madhuri, single handily with the this song made the Box-Office bells ringing and made the movie Super Hit.
=> Ek Ho Gaye Hum Aur Tum(Humma Humma)
OST: Bombay
Music A.R. Rehman, Sung by Remo, Choreographed by Prabhu Deva and Directed by Mani Ratnam, now what else can one ask for. This song got all of them to top of Bollywood's most wanted list. Still cannot forget Sonali Bendre, guest appearance for the song. Damn, she looked 'H'oot.
=> Kaate Nahin Kat-te Yeah
OST: Mr. India
Do you remember the blue shiffon saree, Sridevi wore. Now how can one for get that. Speaking of Hot, you cannot get Hotter than that. Still fantasize about Sri, in that blue shiffon.;)
=> Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya
OST: Mughal-E-Azam
Technically the best song to be picturized ever. Because: It was the first song that was not in the Black & White mode but color, then, for the song the whole set(the palace) was made of Glass, and in the whole of dance sequence lasted more than 5min, and you never see the reflection of camera crew anywhere, how could they do that.
=> Pehla Nasha
OST: Jo Jeeta Woh Sikander
Slow Motion Lip Sync, excerised for the first time, came out beautifully well. Excellent song and one of the best Actor featured, boosts the sprit of the song and dance.
=> Radha Kaise Na Jaale
OST: Lagaan
Superb Choreography, is all that one can say for this song. All of us, must have seen this song so I don't think there will be any need to comment on it, right?
=> Rang De
OST: Takshak
Wildcard Entry, but if you have seen this song on a theater, where it looks amazing, you could easily now why the entry. This song apart from excellent choreography has a richness to it in terms of sound and color. The dancers dress the color of the set is so well done, that for its aesthetic beauty it should make into the list.
=> Waqt Ne Kiya Kya
OST: Khamoshi
Black & White movie, Gurudutt in forefront, nothing of a dance sequence but the stillness say more the all the dance you see. The beam of light that falls on Gurudutt is also one of his brilliant ideas, by which he reflected day light(sun rays) to a dark room, in a perfect position where he stood.
