Kamal Hasson is my personal favorite actor and I believe he's the most talented actor in the world, hollywood or India. I would put Kamal next to such great as Brando, De Niro, Pacino. Its hard to pick 10 best Kamal Hassan movies, but i'm picking this as the 10 best movies, not his 10 best as a commercial or based on his acting skills, rather on the quality of the movies.

1.) NAYAKAN- This one is a no brainer, and there's not point of giving the plot, I doubt if there's a Tamil person who hasn't seen this movie. This is by far the best movie Mani Ratnam and Kamal Hassan made. The story, the cinematography, music, and especially kamal's acting made this movie an instant classic, and every movie since this has been measured to this. I don't think any other actor could of caried this movie with as much screen presence as Kamal did.
2.) HEY RAM- Althought most people now recongize this movie for its brillance, but it didn't recieve much glory when it was first released. This movie had Kamal Hassan, doing everything, from directing, producing, lyrist, and he starred in it. This movie had an magnificient cast, story, acting, and great music. Only one actor in india is capable of doing this kind of movie, and thats Kamal.
3.) Thevar Magan- just like Nayakan, this one needs to explanation. This movie was another classic movie my Kamal, had everything to make it a four star movie. Great Direction, Acting, Music, and story. This movie had a amazing cast along with Kamal, Sivaji, Revathi, Kauthami, and Nasser. I can see why this movie was an entry for Oscars from India. comparing todays entries India has for Oscars are sub-par when looking at what in the previous years, when kamal had many of his movies entered.
4.) Mahandhi- Some many argue on this one, and i'm not sure if this deserves this high ranking, but nevertheless this is one my favorite Kamal Hassan movies, and I like this movie for its simplicity and great acting. the story has very nice flow, and the characters are very realistic. This is rather debatable but, I think next to Nayakan, this properly has the best acting from kamal.
5.) Kurthipunal- a movie without a song in india is hard to imagine, come to think of it, from what I know this is the only movie I know without one. This is one of the best thrillers i've ever seen regardless of what language. The story and performance by the two leads, Kamal and Kauthami are outstanding, and so is Arjuns and Nassers. I don't what more to say about this movie, its another one thats considered a classic, hard to critique classic movies.
6.) 16 vanithilaye- is a Kamal Hassan movie, a Sri Devi movie, or a Bharthiraaja movie? it could be be arugued for any one of the, but I think its a Kamal Hassan movie. He's acting and illayaraja's music really caried this movie along, and also a great direction and story from Bharthiraaja, this is bharthiraaja's best movie, along with Muthal Mariyathai.
7.) Indian- Althought story wise it may not have been great as the previous movies, but this movie has some magic, that truely worked. Kamal Hassans unbelievable performance, the music, the story and Director Shankars special touch, made this movie all too good. If people didnt know Kamal Hassan is playing duel roles, no one wold of guessed that was him playing the elder father.
8.) Salangi Oli- This is another movie that showcased his talent not only has an actory, but as a great performancer. This movie had wonderful music and acting by the lead casts, another classic, I can't critique too much about.
9.) Avargal- This is one of kamals very first movies as a lead actor, this one is aslo those classic ones, every one and knows about. sorry to leave you like this, but i'm getting tired and so my reviews are getting shorter and shorter.
10.) Moondram Pirai & Guna- these movies in my opinion are just made to showcase kamals acting skills, the story is very basic, although very good, but the both movies are caried by Kamal hassans acting.
