(Updated Jan 10, 2006 12:31 AM)

2006 finally arrived and we all are living in it 2005 is now the history and this recent history includes some of unforgettable tunes produced by some of finest musicians. The trend of the preceding year was that the composers who have given good music were consistent throughout the year. So forgetting their any of work will be injustice, so I decided to write the review the way it looks like now:

Adnan Sami, Rohail Hayat- Faisal Hayat & Atif Aslam – Jal

Film: Lucky

Song of the Year: Jaan Meri Ja Rahi Hai Sanam

Starting with the alphabetical order we have Sami with his soulful melodies in Lucky. He really is mastering his work year after year and providing us with some of very fresh tunes with some very fine music the deserving one to be said as one of the best of year.

Film: Zeher

Song of the Year: Woh Lamhe Woh Batain

Best seller of the year 2005. only one song can take an album to these heights that the bore movie even got status of Hit. This was Atif Aslam’s one very best song and very well utilized by Mahesh Bhatt in this movie and got the response in his favour.

Film: Kalyug

Song of the Year: Jiya Dharak

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan just steals the show here with his vocal. A super composition which not only given a good song but one of the best soft song ever heard.

A R Rehman

Films: Kisna, Mangal Pandey & Rang De Basanti

Songs of the Year: Hum Hain Iss Pal Yahan, Main Vari Vari & Paatshala

Rehman maintains his repute by giving a huge score for Kisna which released latest year but the movie released this year. Similarly he has given an above average score for MP and to end this year he has given RDB. In these I think Kisna was his best this year.

Himesh Reshammiya

Films: Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Aksar, Kyunki, Koi Aap Sa, Main Aisa Hi Hoon & Vaah Life ho Tou Aisi

Songs of the Year: Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Jhalak, Kyunki itna Pyar, Tere Dil Ka, Dil Mera Todo Na & Teri Yaad

A long list of hits this year for Himesh. Aashiq Banaya Aapne is his best this year and also from singing point of view. He worked a lot this year and his success rate was also very high we can name this year to him.

M M Kareem

Films: Paheli & Kasak

Songs of the Year: Dheere Jalna & Jana Hai

Kareem tried out something extraordinary in Paheli which was partially rejected by people, but Dheere Jalna is among the most fantastic songs we have heard this year. In Kasak he provide us with Jana Hai in three versions and all were cute.

Nadeem Shravan

Films: Bewafaa, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Barsaat & Dosti

Songs of the Year: Ek Bewafaa Hai, Tumko Dulhan Banain Ge, Barsaat Ke Din & Yaar Di Shaadi

NS continues their form and given superb and melodious music throughout the year. Bewafaa has shown their versatility, MJS describes their melody power, Barsaat describes their caliber & Dosti shows their commitment and sticking to the pure Indian tunes. All these are the best sellers of the year and topped the Top 20 albums.

Pritam

Films: Chocolate, Fight Club, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena & Garam Masala

Songs of the Year: Halka Halka Nasha, Bolo Na Tum Zara, Akhiyaan Na Maar & Dil Samundar

Pritam saves his grace with these flicks by giving the dancing floors heat. His scores were not as hit as Dhoom but still was a standard. EKEH was his best work this year. Chocolate was good and worked well in music terms whereas GM songs were overshadowed by the movie itself which was indeed hilarious.

Salim Suleiman

Films: Kaal, Iqbal & Neal’n’Nikki

Songs of the Year: Tauba Tauba, Aashaien & Akh Ladi

The discovery of this year to film music is SS who have burnt the dancing floors with their hot-hot songs. Kaal is the starter which has just rocked in the early days of this year. Then a cool motivational song for Iqbal and lastly again hot n spicy song at the end of year. A nice year for SS.

Shankar Ehsan Loy

Films: Bunty Aur Babli & Dil Jo Bhi Kahey

Songs of the Year: Kajra Re & Kitni Narmi Se

I think the most successful in winning heart of mine are SEL who have given BnB along with DJBK both are outstanding work. Versatility of the composers speaks itself when we listen to BnB and Kajra Re then switch to Kitni Narmi Se and Tu Jab Nahin. If you say the best MD this year my vote for SEL no other.

Shantanu Moitra

Films: Parineeta & Yahaan

Songs of the Year: Piyu Bole & Naam Ada Likhna

Surprise of this year was Shantanu with his Piyu Bole. Everyone singing here and there this very fine song. Then he provided Hazaroon Khwaishain Aiasi and Yahaan and Naam Ada Likhna is among the most fantastic songs of the year.

Vishal Shekher

Films: Dus, Salam Namaste & Home Delivery

Songs of the Year: Dus Bahane, My Dil Goes & Chand Ki Roshni

Hila Ke Rakh Diya is the rigt word for VS. They just surpass every composer and given a bombastic score for Dus and adding to that SN which is the changed and finest work this year. Finally ending with a soft note HD.VS improved over the years and shown potential of holding most of projects in near future.

Still Left

Nashad Sahab’s Taj Mahal was a nice add to music collection, Sandesh Shandilya’s Socha Na Tha was also good, Anu Malik was looked out of touch this year with Deewane Hue Pagal & Viju Sha comes back with Shikar which has Mere Mann which he can cheer about only.

The year 2005 is now no more but the memories and music of the year is with us and will remind us the year for a long long time.

Thanks

It’s Sana((((( O)))))
