Dear friends
No.1 composer is always Illayaraaja. But if you restrict only to the Hindi film music directors then the list is ok.But if it is a list of indian composers then it is Illayaraja is No.1.I understand that Hindi film music lovers doesn't have much chance to listen to the great music composed by him from 1975.The way he has blended Indian & Western classical along with folk and proportion in which he has mixed no body has done before or even now.The arrangements made by him without any assistants and the way he does the re-recording its amazing.
He simly starts writing music after seeing the music and if the musicians start to play it is more than apt for the situations.I dont think any body in indian film industry or even any other musicians can just write music without any instruments.
Apart from film music he has composed keerthanas called as panchamuki and perfromed before the audiance at the time of music festival in chennai. He is the first ASIAN to compose a symphony, and he has composed three albums which includes the latest hit Thiruvasagam with Symphony orchestra which is already a hit.He has composed more than 800 films and the time frame he takes very little time to compose songs or even re-regarding which is also amazing.
In my opinion without Maestro Illayaraja in the No.1 Place of the list the list is not a valid one.If you have not listened to the great maestro just go and buy some of his albums and listen, but dont prepare any lists before this, if not you are doing injustice.
I also beleave that Indian Music includes the music from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam & Kanada also and our Illayaraja has composed in 6 languages.
