Indian film industry is the most funniest industry in terms of consistency that you would see. That is because, everything is so unpredictable ..... A director of highest calibire can give you a good sleep u've been looking for with a ''Dile Se'' here, and a newcomer can win your appreciation with a ''Dil Chahta Hai''. An actor who brings out the best appreciator in you with Rangeela, Hum Hain rahee pyaar ke'' can scare you, leaving you in disbeleif with a ''Mela''. But this industry has given us many unforgettable gems, which have left an impression. There are many movies which were great, but my favorites are the ones, which I can watch any number of times, ie which even today make me stop my channel surfing, when being screened. Some movies, which may or may not be box office blockbusters, but have something in them, that make me watch them again n again without being bored. Here are those (The preference is not in the order of appearance, I like them all):-

(1) Sholay:- Now it would be really stupid of me to give reasons for this. and same goes for the readers who complain about not elaboratng on this (Just Kidding yaar, no offence meant). The Encyclopedia of Hindi movies.

(2) Ardh Satya:- Terrific, tremendous, hardhitting masterpeice from Govind Nihalani. When bollywood, was busy with unwanted action flicks , this movie stole the show with its simple presentaion and brilliant content. Infact everything about this movie was great. Still regarded as Govind Nihalani & Om Puri's best work. And it gave bollywood one of the most successful villians, Sadashiv Amrapurkar in one of the roles he'd never forget.

(3)Angoor:- Can never forget this simple comedy based on Shakesphere's ''Comedy of Errors'' about two pairs of identical twins, who get seperated at birth only to meet after 20 years. Full confusion, had me in splits. Sanjeev kumar & Deven Verma shared the honours. Gulzaar exhibited that it wasnt necessary to have double meaning script and sick jokes to make an out & out brilliant comdey.

(4)Jaane Bhi do Yaaron:- WO http://www. What a movie that was. All the actors, at their best. The best thing about this movie was, that all the character artists and actors who were relatively new and unknown at the time movie was released, later went on to establish themselves as most reliable artists, for eg: Satish Kaushik, Neena Gupta, Satish Shah, Bhakti Barve etc. One of the best Black comedies ever made in India, and who can forget the evergreen Draupadi vastraharan Sence, the climax of the movie, which was one of the most hilarious moments of Indian Cinema.

(5)Teesri Manzil:- Shammi ''Handsome'' Kapoor, R D Burman's foot tapping music. This is one of the best Indian mystery movies I've seen (though many people dont think so). An intresting plot, sharp twists n turns, very good direction, SUPERB music, great performances and a pacy style of storytelling that kept viewer glued to the seat. And yes, a pretty decent back ground score(now dont compare it with modern times). makes a good viewing everytime.

(6)Shaukeen:- Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt & A K Hangal carried the whole film on their shoulders, thereby proving that a films success did not depend on the music and popular themes with star actors. A totally unconventional theme with a dash of bad intentions. The wealthy three old men go to Goa in order to revive their younger days and spot the sizzling Rati Agnihotri. All of them want to have sex with her and bring back their good young days when they could do it well. The hot pursuit to succeed in their plan makes them indulge in stupid acts and in the end a better wisdon prevails. A not to be missed entertainer with real witty one liners and fantastic performances by all of them.

Koshish:- A story about two Deaf & Mute people who cant hear or speak and who fall in love. A really sensetive love story directed very sensibly by Gulzaar and superbly performed by Sanjeev Kumar & Jaya Bhaduri. Watching this movie, one can really feel the pain and leaves an occasssional tear in the eye. Strictly recommended for people who want to understand them rather than symphatize. A very good viewing.

(7)Andaaz Apna Apna:- Aamir Khan & Salman Khan trying to go oneup in the game of love. Honestly speaking, a real sensless movie, but I loved it and still gives me a good time . Also starred Paresh Rawal and others.

(8)Qayamat Se Qayamat tak:- Here let me tell you, that romantic movies bore me to death, but this is the only love story which I liked. maybe that was due to the fact that it was a fresh pair and Aamir & Juhi put in their best as newcomers. The music was very good and I listen to it sometimes even now. And probably the Nasir Hussain style of direction that made the difference.

(9)Inkaar:- The presence of this movie may surprise many, but it was a very well directed movie. The best thing about this movie was the fact that it never diverted from its script and had a tight hold on the story. A kidnapping & investigation drama. Just imagine, the director couldnt even fit a single flash back Vinod Khanna - Vidya Sinha romance sence. Very good tight direction with good performances from all. And yes,the song Mungda was a rage.

(10)Masoom:- A moving story about a young boy born as a result of a short affair between Naseeruddin Shah and his old class mate Supriya Phathak. A terrific movie , with unforgettable performances by Shabana Aazmi, and all the kids. Fantastic music. Another top favorite.

Im confused on wether to add Qurbaani, Aitbaar, Shakti, Hera Pheri in the list, and if yes, which are the ones to be removed? None I gues, so I'll go with the above one, not taking credit from the latter ones which were equally good, but the list has to be for 10 and not 15 so......Many would wonder that I dont have Maine Pyaar Kiya or DDLJ or other superhits in my list, but frankly I think those movies were more like fast food, good to taste, but no nutrition. There are many others which I like to watch but these are the ones which are likely to create a stir in my house and specially when its a night viewing on cable or other channels which disrupts my families viewing of ULTRA SICK FAMILY BOMBS on Star Plus.
