9. Eklavya - The Royal Guard. [1/2] [U/A]:Vidhu Vinod Chopra had returned after a long non-directing spell of 7 long years and was expected to deliver a hard hitting concept and to a certain limit he did. VVC tried his hands on creating new-age 'Indian' cinema. The movie starred - Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Jimmy Shergill, Sharmila Tagore, Raima Sen. Eklavya is a story of deceit, intrigue, drama and revenge. Set in present day India, the film has a special resonance for today’s world, beleaguered by hate and violence born from fanatical belief. As Eklavya struggles to conceal the family’s gravest secrets; and modernity, time and kin conspire against him.

8. Namastey London: [] [U]:After a great family drama 'Waqt', Vipul Shah came up with a romantic comedy 'Namastey London'. Starring - Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor. Namastey London is a story of following customs. What will a India based family want to do with their daughter born and brought up in London? The film has a well balanced dose of masala in the form of song and dance, romance and even humor.

7. The Namesake: [] [A]:Mira Nair has always directed social movies nicely, Namesake was one of them, The movie had a strong message 'How Much a Name Matters'. which was delivered effectively. The movie had Irfan Khan, Tabu, Kal Penn. The movie depicts movingf away of a kid from his family due to certain resons, some being name, money and greed. The struggles of an indian kid, in many ways to be a typical American kid who just longs to be like everyone else, to come to terms with his name and his culture, serve as the narrative framework for the movie.

5. Jab We Met: [] [U]:A fresh topping to an old stuff. Jab We Met wasn't a novel concept and had nothing so special in its script to make it a success. JWM was fully based upon heavy performances and crisp direction. Imtiaz Ali did a fair job in directing for the second time. The movie had Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Jab We Met was a sweet, romantic comedy that had a simple script with a sweet and engaging screenplay. The film had several scenes which left an indelible mark on the viewer

4. Bhool Bhulaiyaa [] [U/A]:Bhool Bhulaiyaa was more of a psychological thriller then a usual lmao comedy by Priyadarshan [based upon a 16 year old Malyalam movie]. The movie had amazing performances and the pinch of comedy worked as a big time.Starring - Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Vidya  Balan and Amisha Patel. The movie dealt with the general Indian thinking 'Presence of Ghosts'. The movie was successful in delivering what it wanted to.

3. Chak De! India [1/2] [U]:Chak De India is a sports film that is realistic,  energetic, entertaining and uplifting in spirit. The film deals with India’s much ignored national sport-Hockey, a girls hockey team which is ignored to the sidelines, a bit of patriotism, team spirit and finally the spirit of triumph over obstacles. Starring - Shah Rukh Khan. The film is also partly based on the real life of former hockey player Mir Ranjan Negi. The film has a simple script and the screenplay has wit, drama, emotions etc which are extremely convincing. The execution too by Shimit Amin is first class as the film unfolds in an engaging and adept manner.

  1. Johnny Gaddaar: [1/2] [A]:Johnny Gaddar is a smart, stylish and suave thriller. However it’s a thriller with a difference, the audiences know who the game player is right from the start.Starring: Neil Mukesh, Rimi Sen, Vinay Pathak, Zakir hussain, Dharmendra. Johnny Gaddar has an intelligent script, a screenplay filled with twists and turns and the execution is first rate. The performances and timing of the actors are noteworthy.
