This is an interesting topic to write on! I just read reviewer’s on the same, and immediately decided that a music fanatic like me should be writing on this topic! A great video can make even the most boring song look good on screen. If a video is captivating, half the battle is won for the artist. The following are my favorite music videos, in no order of preference. Also, by picking the videos does not necessarily mean that the songs themselves were great! So here, goes, my favorite videos!
Crazy-Aerosmith
Who cannot add this video into one’s favorite. Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone sizzle in this video. Rather, I watch the video for those two hot babes than the song in itself. The song is a classic, and the two girls make it even hotter. How I wish I were the guy with them in that video!
Smooth Criminal-Michael Jackson
Wanna see MJ’s best dance ever. For me, this video showcases his best dance ever. A pretty long video about MJ enacting a gangster who dances for the crowd is an all time favorite of mine. Check out the dance steps in the song, and the imitation done by the kid…its cool! One of MJ’s best ever!
Heal the world-Michael Jackson
Forgive me for being biased to MJ, but I really think this was a great video. The video of kids running around with flowers and giving them to soldiers is beautiful. MJ expresses the futility of war and the joys of peace in this masterful video at one go. The lyrics of the song too are great in themselves, and the video only enhances the message of the song. Overall, a great video.
Scream-Michael Jackson
MJ yet again! This is again one of my all time favorite videos…no not the song! The video is brilliant, and it cost nearly 20 million dollars to make it(its supposed to be the costliest video ever made). The digital special effects are brilliantly mixed in the song, and its really the special effects that set this song apart. Check out the parts where they show the vase breaking in slow motion…that was some tremendous technology display!
Torn-Natalie Imbruglia
Rather a strange choice for best music video you would say. I agree, but its simplistic video is what appealed to me the most. Also, Natalie looks cute and the idea of shooting the whole video concentrated just on her face and body was indeed innovative. The song was good too, but its simple video made it look even better.
November Rain-Guns N Roses
Without this video, this list is incomplete. The video is a weird video going from places to places, but supplements this all time classic song brilliantly. The marriage, the funeral and the frantic guitaring at end make this video an all time classic. No list is complete without this one!
Fast Love-George Michael
This George Michael has got some great special effects. The song is great too with a funky techno beat, but it’s the video which is hot and makes it better. Check out the parts of the song where the people transform. The special effects used there are dazzling!
Its my life-Bon Jovi
Again a strange choice you would say, but I do like its video a lot. It was kind of different for me. It showed a guy trying to reach his girlfriend, and his run to it. All throughout he keeps running and running and finally reaches when song gets over! The song was great too. However, the song didn’t have much relation to the video in itself!
If you had my Love-Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez exploded on screen with this sizzling hot number. Man, what curves and moves she has; and she made sure that every one of her curves were aptly recognized in the video! She is a great dancer, and the dance in the video made it better. The video might not be technically as brilliant as others listed here, but it was HER which hooked me onto the video!
Cant Get you Out of My Head-Kylie Minogue
This is currently my favorite video…and it is subject to change always! However, I am hooked to the tune of this song! A perfect techno song, but its video makes its better. Kylie is apparently suffering from ‘if J.Lopez could do it, I can too’ syndrome! And she does just by showing as much as JLO would in her videos(only thing….JLO would look much hotter!). But the song is great, and overall, the video kind of jells with the song completely. Kylie does look hot, and this song is currently number one at so many countdowns.
These were some of my favorite videos. Of course, in an industry where 10 music videos released every day, its really difficult to pick out 10 great ones from so many others. There might be so many other videos better than I have listed here, but as I said, recalling each one of them is difficult! However, I will definitely mention some notable videos which also form my favorites list, and if the topic had said 20 songs, I would have added them here! They are
