Directors are very important players in the drama of making a movie. They have to deal with the egos of the actors, handle another person's vision and bring it to life on the screen. I decided to list the actors I feel do the best job in accomplishing this amazing feat.

  1. Steven Speilberg

When you read the list of movies that Steven Spielberg has created, you can't help but be impressed. Most of his movies have been the pinnacle of film making in my time. From his adorable alien creature in the film E.T. to the daring crusades of Indiana Jones he has managed to create worlds and characters that are unforgettable. Even though, I didn't enjoy A.I. I feel he also did a fantastic job on the direction of this film.

  1. Alfred Hitchcock

The master of suspense is unparalleled when it comes to bringing stories of fear and adrenaline to the screen. the first movie I ever saw of his was The Birds. He always builds everything to a fantastic climax and his pacing and vision is amazing.

  1. Preston Sturges

This man did not make many movies, but the ones he did he did right. I first saw his work in a film called The Lady Eve. This movie is funny, romantic and pretty timeless despite the fact is was made many years ago.

  1. Rob Reiner

Responsible for romantic comedies like The American President and When Harry Met Sally, I have always enjoyed his light hearted and amusing movies.

  1. Wes Craven

The master of the horror film, I feel he has made some of the best horror movies in my time. He defined the genre in the 80's with the classic Nightmare on Elm Street. Then in the 90's when he got tired of everyone ripping off his classic, he came out with the scary and satirical Scream.

  1. Ron Howard

Responsible for blockbuster pictures like Apollo 13 and Ransom, his movies are always involving and well done. Opie has definitely come a long way.

7.Martin Scorsese

Although his movies are not my favorites I feel he still deserves a nod as one of the best English directors. I do feel his Taxi Driver is a very interesting character study.

  1. Francis Ford Coppola- Responsible for the Godfather Trilogy and other movies like Peggy Sue Got Married and The Outsiders I think this director has done a lot of good work.

  2. Robert Zemeckis- Directed a lot of my childhood favorites like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Back To The Future. I have always enjoyed his films.

  3. Stanley Kubrick

A wierd visionary, I really enjoyed his spin on the Stephen King classic The Shining. I also feel that The Clockwork Orange was a fascinating work as well.

These are my list of 10 best directors. I feel these directors have made a good portion of the movies I have enjoyed throughout my time watching films.
