Top five movies of 2006

After reading a review on top 5 movies of 2006 I thought even I should write about my  favourites as my choices are different  from others and I was told once by one of the MS members "to each his own" so plz bare with me if u don't like them.

The movie that tops my priority list is RANG DE BASANTI  by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. The movie was just excellent. Not just because it had a sense of patriotism but also because of its appeal. It imbibed in today's youth a fresh zeal of enthusiasm. Though it may sound funny but when I came out of the movie hall with my frend after watching this movie I wanted to fight for everything from eve teasers to letchers to what not. The movie portrayed ambition, love, friendship, religion, tradition and everything but in a different way..........in a way that today's generation wants to see (not that older ppl didn't like the movie). My favourite scene of the movie is when Karan salutes at  Gateway of India. It was just so touching so patriotic  just sooo wonderful. At first I expected that as Amir Khan is in the main lead other actors would be sidelined by him but then it was so well directed and everyone was given equal footing when it came to roles. Every character is memorable. The movie was definately the right choice for OSCARS.

The next movie on my list is Bhai re Bhai Munna Bhai  yes thats LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI by Raj Kumar Hirani. What a bindass movie!!!! It was full on entertainment and humanity. Sanjay Dutt as Munnabhai and Arshad as Circuit gave powerful performances. To me Lage Raho was better than its first part. Songs were fantastic as well as the screenplay, story and direction. Vidya was another plus point of the movie and Booman Irani was just usual.......fantabulous!

Next on my top 5 list is DOR by Nagesh Kukunoor. He is one of my favourite directors. I loved his movie IQBAL and his dicovery Shreyas Talpade is one actor whom I adore. Everything about him seems so perfect to me. All of the cast was good. The position of women in Rajasthan, female bonding, hypocracy and hierarchy of men everything was shown in a very simple way. Nagesh kept a very down to earth approach throughout the movie. It could be because it was a female oriented movie and Indian women have a 'very down to earth' kind of a image.

At number four is Corporate. I have already written a review on the movie. I simply loved the movie and Bipasha was great in the movie. The story was very strong and also very real.

Lastly, its OMKARA that has taken my heart away. Langda Tyagi........ohhhh what a character. Ajay Devgan...good, Konkona Sen..... very good, Kareena..... above expectations and what the hell Viveik Oberoi was doing in the movie?????....just decorating marriage tents. No further comments on him!  As a lot of  questions were raised on the language  used in the movie, guyz trust me whatever is shown in the movie is really the way the goons talk , atleast in UP. No no I dont belong to that kind of a family but am sure every person who is from UP or Bihar side will accept the language used in the movie. You cant expect a gang like that to talk with sophistication...do u??

These are few of my recent favourites and these are the movies that I can watch again n again. If any1 of u haven't seen any of these movies then plz go for it. They are really nice to watch and extremely enjoyable movies.

cheers,

neeru.
