Ok I know my review will not suit to this topic, but since there is no pruduct offered to which my following thoughts will suit I chose this one.

All right, Hit me here, hit me there, hit me everywhere but once again I had the feeling to write aboutIndian Cinema. I have been raised up with movies and iwatched movies from so many countries: french movies, Italian movies, Hollywood, UK, HK/China, South Korea and of course India.

And though I am From Paksitan I cant stand pakistani movies at all so lets just not talk about them, butmany dont know that Pakistan once was on the right way with actorslike Waheed Muraad making really an impact. But times changed andthere I were soo many things that led Pak-film industry to misery .

So wut happened, Why am I writing this.

Hmm, okay I will tell you:

Yesterday I went to the lend some DVD

I picked the film "Whale Rider"a Kiwi film.

my rating for this Film ""BEAUTIFU.L, GREEAAT"", "SUUPERB", .......

Then I thought when was the last time I had that feeling and following films came spontaniously to my mind :

Gladiator(USA), Brotherhood(korea), Infernal affairs(HK), SPL(HK), Cast away(USA), Man on Fire(usa), Once upon a time in the west(Italy), The Godfather(USA), Heat(USA), My sassy girl(korea), and some more.

But there was no Indian movie that came to my mind. Then I started thinking."..hmmm Khakee was good, errrm, Devdas was all right, .....Omkara pretty cool, Lagaan wow-- and then I really couldnt find any indian movie that really left an impact on me like the ones mentioned above.

Dhoom 2, Rocky, Umrao jaan, and some, other releases are at home. my sister or my brother must have brought them, but I have no motivation to watch them. I am sure that I could enjoy one of these movies but I am also sure that I wont get that BIG Satisfying feeling that I demand of films at times.

But when I ponder more deeply I see an indian fillm which at that time had that kind of impact on me--MERI JUNG-- I was still a kid then but I remember having tears when I watched it at there were some scenes where Anil Kapoor was performing so greatly that it gave me that kinda heebe-jeebies which I got watching Gladiator.

But Indian Cinema has just lost the Art of making such movies, generally they have lost the art of making hard-htiitng quality movies. Sure we have Hot and half naked girls  now , and good settings, clorofull, up to date fashion, dancing and etc.. but there is still THE Ingredient missing, which can not be named, just be felt.

There are Indian Film that do stand outlike Lagaan and Rang de Basanti that really dont go the same way likethe other indian movies , but they r sinking so deeply within the masses that it is difficult for them to be recognized in longer terms.Still all credits to amir khan, he is really trying and I really appreciate his work, and I hope he will go on making good movies or at least keeps on acting in good movies.

I think , and that is my opinion only, that Indian cinema never made use of the potnetial that was there, founded by movies that were made from the early 40s till the mid 90s.After that there is such a sudden change and attitude towardsmoviemaking that everything that was earned and won has been thrownaway.

Where now film like Lagaan are exceptions films like meri Jung at that time laid a foundation for future films.

I am not sure weather an Abhiesheikh Bachan or a Hrithik Roshan or some other Dudes will ever have the kind of Acting Skills Anil Kapoor had ( he still has), but still they r so successfull (all right Hritihik is working on his skills and really has some talent, but Abhisheikh kinda guys are there because u know whyy..)

I am not sure where Indian cinema will be Heading when Actors like the top Khans Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor will say good bye to Indian Cinema. Sure there will be great sets, Micro-skirts, more controversies about kissing scenes or S..X scenes, and maybe one day ( I dont think so at all) they can even do acceptable action movies,

But will there also be Films that touch your heart, that give u this Rollercoaster feeling, films that dont need the exhibiton of a woman´s body , especially when not needed-not even Hollywood uses this to that extent like bollywood does nowadays.

I mean if the  film Masti needed these kinda scenes that was okay and appropriate for a film of such a genre, as it was part of the plot, ...that is acceptable.

But sometimes these scenes just dont suit the the theme of the movie and in Indian cinema mini-skirts are just part of the movie. but okay thats another topic.

Nations like South korea overtook the  indian film industry in every category and there is a simple reason for that. They have been building their progress on what they have achieved, even if it was small and not recognised b the western world. The korean film industry has been staying true to their history, their culture, and their identitiy

and their values.

Once no one knew about Korean movies and people from outside even knew about the pehnomenon of Quantitiy film-productuion In India but Korea was never in someones mind. But today Poeple all around the world want their films and it is foolisht o think that indian movies are so much desired by foreign countries. This is just an illusion. At the end India can adjust itself  to the western world as much as possible but for the West India will stayI ndia Resulting in India looking for an identity that is breaking more and more and becoming so fragile like never before.

I did not mention that as I think it is visible for all that China, France or Spain rank higher in filmmaking than India. As this has always been the case these countries dont help me to make any relative comparison like I did with South Korea.

SO I could write more but I also need a break and I dont want to make more peole angry here ;)

i could even say that shoaly is not a masterpeice as it lacks originality, I mean copying the best scenes of movies such as "once upon a time in the wes" or "Butch cassasdy and the sundance kid"

and some other western movies like the ugly the bad ........and sholay even takes the stroyline of the japanese classic Seven Samurai, ..but as I know that if I go further I will hurt some people who r very sentimental about Sholay thoguh its a fact that nothing carried the movie but Amjad Khans PERFORMANCE as Gabbar Singh, it is not the movie as such that is sooooo good, ...making a direct comparison between Mother india and Sholay I would rather say Mother India is a Masterpiece, a rare exception in Indian Cinema.
