Over the years I have read and enjoyed a lot many books and hope to continue to do the same. This is a small list of the Authors who have entertained, educated and enthralled me.
William Shakespeare A storyteller without equal, a wordsmith of sublime skills. His words still echo in my mind after all these years.
Louis Lamour Wrote westerns and adventure which thrilled but also about human emotions and the building of a great nation.
Sir Walter Scott Thrills, chills, Human drama, Romance adventure you name it and all in an elegant robust style.
P.G. Wodehouse You Chuckle and you smile and the stories are so simple, and then you try to explain the plot and story to your friend and realise what a master is Wodehouse.
Alexendre Dumas The three Musketeers and the Count of Monte Cristo need I say any more! I have never enjoyed any other adventure books more.
Georgette Heyer The queen of historical romances. The Plots are not too complex but the language is elegant humorous and the stories have a lot of emotion and the heroines are not run off the mill. I could go on and on extolling the virtues of this, my favorite authoress. Also has written mysteries.
Edgar Rice Burroughs Me Tarzan also John Carter of Barsoom. Though the Tarzan novels are well known, the John Carter series are equally entertaining.
Ed Mcbain The 87 precinct stories are crime thrillers but the cops are heroes and human too and the villains are humans also.
Mark twain Oh how I wished to be Tom Sawyer when I was young. To tell the truth I still wish to be Tom Sawyer!
Enid Blyton Long before J.K Rowlings and Harry potter we thrilled to the Famous five and the Adventurous four and Noddy still beguiles kids on Cartoon network.
