Well its almost murderous innit? I mean Mouth Shut simply created a'5 best alternative rock song' section where as u have ppl writing bout 20 best tamil songs of 2003 yadda yadda. How can you select just 10. Agreed that alternative rock is a newcomer but the speed with which the albums are being made should also be kept in mind.
I started listening to this genre since me 7th grade. So in the last 5-6 years, i've grown addicted to it, but this has in no way decreased my love for classicakl/vintage rock. But I'm not here to justify all that crap, I merely tryin to provide my 2 cents in this field.
So here are my 10 favorite alt. rock songs

Ok this is legendary stuff. Believe it or not but linkin park are one of the very very few bands, whose album's EACH AND EVERY song is outstanding, and u can listen to each on of them a thousand times, but this some one's gotta win. I chose In the end, cause of its great music, and the intense https://lyrics. The rappin was awesome. Mike shinoda and chester are just magical.
This is How you Remind me-Nickel back
Right. this had be somewhere up there, one of the best songs to win a grammy. Yup it won. The song's vocals by chad kroeger are jus awesome, I thought this one was an inch betta then Hero, but then that too was a fabulous one. But this song, has a great rythm, and the tempo is maintained throughout the song. Neva did see the video of this one though.
Bring me back to life-Evanescence
One of THE best OST rock songs eva! Evanascence was the find of 2003.They took the charts by storm, even more so coz the lead singer was a girl. It was a refreshing change from the usual britney's and jlo's et al. The video was just as awesome. But the music gave the song its unsettling power. This is a must for any mordern rock lover.
Numb-Linkin Park
Another Linkin park song. You might feel that i'm biased, but ask anyother die hard LP fan and they'll tell ya the same. I mean alt rock is just way too incomplete without LP. Numb is the last song of Meteora, and it finishes the album on a grand not. You see, its got this psycho feeling(not that its surprising coz we're after all we're talkin bout LP), BUT ITS JUST THAT ONCE YA LISTEN TO IT, ESPECIALLY AFTER U'VE SEEN THE VIDEO, YA WANNA LISTEN TO IT OVA AND OVA AGAIN!
Papa Roach-Last Resort.
Ok I've heard this quite recently. But I Promise, its really worth it. This is perhaps their most popular song. The song's start might not be really flashy but as the song progresses, I just start jumpin on me bed and imitating them as tho I was singing the song. This song is really too good. Trust me on this one!
My Sacrifice-Creed
There is something bout the lyrics of creed that draws me closer to their music. Their sets are always to do with psycho stuff, and ya know it gives ya this immortal sorta feeling, ya'll know what I mean after watchin'one last breath'. Its so sad that they've split, but this song, my sacrifice is one of their greatest eva. It stayed on the charts almost for ever, and was a part of a dozen compilation albums. My sacrifice gr8, especially the guitarist, he gave a ground breaking performance. I suggest you ppl go and buy Weathered right now!
Youth of the Nation-POD
Aiite, this is a true rebel song. POD kicks butt, and kicks them hard! Its prolly the only grp where all the members sing, even the drummer. I heard this one bout 4 years ago, and have been in love with it eva since. Its pretty psychotic, ya know bout supressed emotion, tragedies, but then again, rock aint bout flowers and polka dots izzit? The song is a mix of rap and rock, but really thats what its all bout innit in alt rock, GOOD FUSION! Marcos curiel and Sonny, u rock!

another gr8 song. This album the second one was filled with more slower ones, this was one of the very few fast trcks, its the opening track, and starts off with a pacy beat. I dont reeli fancy da lyrics that musch, but the overall package is gr8. Loved the song, and still do.
HeadStrong-Trapt
Brilliant song. Great music. oK https://lyrics. But really, you could listen to the song for its music alone. Its jus so different from the usual. I'd heard a alot bout it from my pals, but when I finally heard it, then it all made sense, they were right, it really was that DAMN good!
umm the tenth one already. I'd say a tie between maryln manson's Another Brick in the Wall, and Californication BY Rhcp. I dont think any explanation is required for these two. The names speak for themselves. Manson is a monster capable of makin the original pink floyd thing 100000 times betta, with the much much betta music, seriously pink floyd'd music is most of the times quite dull. And RHCP.well what can I say. They are addictive arent they!
