After reading about uninor reviews on the net and positive network related reviews I decided to buy a Uninor connection. I had surrendered my airtel connection after a lot of network problems (I have posted a review on airtel on mouthshut). After surrendering the airtel connection I bought a vodafone prepaid, which I must say is better than airtel, but it gives me a high bill and there are call drops once a day or so. so I bought another prepaid of uninor to see if I get a good network. I went to my dealer day before yesterday and told him I want to buy a uninor connection. he wasn't very enthusiastic for some reason ( I know him very well and is usually a very sweet talking salesman).

I asked him how is uninor's network and he replied very rudely 'paisa kharcha kiya hai itna ads pe to accha hi hoga!!' well I finally bought a connection and he told me it would start in an hr. to my surprise, it did not start for 3 hrs. I called my dealer and he said there is some problem from uninor's side and he is trying to sort it out with uninor guys and it would start next morning. he called me next morning and told me that the sim card is faulty is what uninor guys told him and asked me to come and select another service provider, or take my money back or he has called another lot of sim cards from uninor and I can select it from the new lot.

I went there in the evening and I could see the dealer blasting the sales guy from uninor as my card was faulty. he also told me that the uninor managers are extremely rude and lot of customers have been getting activation problems ( no wonder he wasn't very happy selling uninor). he offered me idea instead and said it has a decent network. but somehow I wanted to try uninor as my second number. the uninor sales guy on the other hand was constantly apologizing for the fault to the dealer. dealer finally gave me another sim card and gave rest of the lot back to the sales guy saying he is not gonna sell uninor anymore due to frequent customer complaints regarding activation.

Now coming to network - I get a good network at my place and did not have call drop as yet (i have talked more than 8 hrs on the phone till now). billing is decent had doesn't pinch due to discount schemes. customer service needs improvement, there is waiting time to talk to the operator. when I call people from my uninor they have told me I sound much clearer on uninor number, which I believe is good. however it has to be seen, if uninor continues to maintain good network with a growing customer database. airtel and vodafone both could not handle large volume of customers and have suffered. don't understand my companies can invest crores in marketing and fail to invest in their biggest USP - network. I understand different network providers give different quality network everywhere, so would suggest, if possible, to buy uninor as a secondary number with a low recharge and try for a few days before using it as a primary number.
