Its the story of a young girl Tehzeeb(Urmila Matondkar) and her mother Rukhsana(Shabana Azmi).

Rukhsana gives more attention to her career, neglecting her husband and kids. This sours her relationship with her husband Anwar(Rishi Kapoor) and with her daughter Tehzeeb. Meanwhile their second daughter(Diya Mirza) is born. One day Tehzeeb watches her parents arguing with each other. She sees a revolver in her mother's hand and watches her Dad dying. Rukhsana is arrested and is later released.

Tehzeeb is married to a writer Salim(Arjun Ramphal) who is a gem of a man. He understands his wife Tehzeeb to the core and stands by her and supports her. Tehzeeb takes care of her younger sister Nazneen(Diya Mirza) who is mentally challenged. Both the sisters share a very close relationship with each other. Tehzeeb loves her kid sister a lot and does not want to part with her.

Suddenly one day, Rukhsana comes to meet Tehzeeb. Both mother and daughter are excited and happy. Rukhsana is shocked to find that Nazneen is staying with Tehzeeb and arguments take place between them over the issue.

Days pass by and one day Tehzeeb brings up the topic of her Dad and holds her Mom responsible for his death. This leads to heated arguments between mother and daughter. What happens next? Will Tehzeeb forgive her mother? Well, friends, you do watch out the film for the answers. I am sure you will love it, if you are a person who values relationships.

The film has its share of comedy sequences as well. One of them is Arjun mistaking his mother-in-law to be his wife and comes near her romantically from the back and says that she has become healthy. This makes one to break into peals of laughter.Another sequence is where Urmila imitates various actors/actresses which is entertaining. She is brilliant.

Regarding peformances Shabana Azmi plays her role to perfection.Urmila is excellent in all the three relationships as a daughter, sister and wife. She is superb in the scenes where she argues with her mother, and brings tears to the eyes in the emotional scenes with her sister(Diya). Diya Mirza is superb and excellent. Film Director Mr. Khalid has brought out the talent in this promising young actress. She REALLY looks like a ''gudiya''(as she is called in the film) and is so lovable.Watch out for her talent.Last but not the least Arjun Ramphal(He is my favourite since his modelling days)is mesmerizing as a caring and doting husband. Don't miss him in the romantic scenes and comedy sequences with his wife. He is brilliant.

Another breath of freshness in this film for which the film director Mr.Khalid deserves applause is he has shown Muslim women as being modern(Urmila wears pants and tops) and not as the typical burkha-wearing woman. He has also shown them to be having a mind of their own.Great work Mr.Khalid. Keep it up.

IF YOU MISS THIS FILM THEN YOU HAVE MISSED SOMETHING WONDERFUL.

Pros: Natural acting by the main characters(Shabana Azmi,Urmila,Diya,Arjun), emotional scenes of Urmila with her sister, emotional scenes of Diya with her sister and mother, romantic and comedy scenes of Arjun with his wife.
