RAHMAN+ASHA BHOSLE.....spill MAGIC!. Review on Tehzeeb Songs

TEHZEEB..................well from the moment the promos of this film hit the tv channels,i got interested in the film.Firstly I love the title of this film,then its directed by KHALID ''FIZA'' MOHAMAD,its got a very differant and fresh cast comprising of URMILA(she is simply rocking this year),SHABANA AZMI,DIYA MIRZA and ARJUN RAMPAL and most importantly it has music by ''GOD'' RAHMAN and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.So that makes TEHZEEB a film to look out for.Well..............for me the music of KAL HO NA HO was a collosal dissapointment,but TEHZEEB certainly isn't,though it could have been a better album had all the songs been sung by ASHA BHOSLE.But no regrets................anything from Rahman,in any form will do.

There are six tracks in the ALBUM.

The album opens with KHOYEE KHOYEE ANKHEIN...................Which is on air now-a-days featuring ARJUN ''WOODEN'' RAMPAL.The song is pretty nice...........and catchy,its got unusual lyrics,they are in pure hindi...............and the song has a different and fresh feel to it.SHAAN has sung this song...............and he never dissapoints.So KHOYEE KHOYEE is a nice rocking song to open the album with.

NA SHIQWA HOTA................is a ghazal,beautifully written by JAVED AKHTAR who has come into form once again after KHNH....................and wonderfully rendered by SUJATA BHATTACHARYA,she has got a very nasal voice but she has done a good job singing the ghazal.The song is very melodious and well cmposed by RAHMAN...........and its very differant from his usual style.But I feel this song 'ld have been better had ASHA BHOSLE sung it.

MEHERBAAN MEHERBAAN........................well,WHAT A SONG!Its a superb number,probably the best of the year after Shreya ghosal's JADOO hai NASHA.Man how can ASHA sound so young and divine at this age?This one is a rocking number,the tune is infectious............the instrumentation is fabulous,lyrics are good...............and SUKHWINDER SINGH and ASHA BHOSLE(just check out the way she sings the line''Kyon ho naraaz tum'') make the song sound just SPLENDID.U can pick this album for just this song,itself.Btw I think URMILLA is looking tooo hot in this number!

I WANNA BE FREE................is a techno,FUSION SONG...................very racy and uptempo.The lyrics are by BLAAZE..................though there is nothing much in the song lyric wise,the song just goes like TOD DO ZAANZEERE..................i loved this track,its awesome.The song has been song by ANUPAMA and MATHANGI.This one is a true RAHMAN style song.

MUJHPE TOOFAN UTHAYA LOGON NE...................reminds me of a song of JAGJIT\CHITRA SINGH.Well this is another nice ghazal..............but its not the type of song which you 'll like instantly,the song has to be heard a few times before it registers an impact.The song is well-composed and written but I again think SUJATA BHATTACHARYA could have done a better job singing it...................RAHAMAN should have gone with ASHA BHOSLE.

SABAQ AISA..................is another ghazal,though a bit modern and fast,is a good composition too..................the music in TEHZEEB is very un-like RAHMAN,he has used different instruments and singers.And ghazals is something which we don't associate with RAHMAN but still he has done a commendable job,an ofcourse JAVED KHTAR has written some great https://lyrics.Sabaq aisa is also sung by SUJATA..........must say she is lucky to get so many well composed and written songs to sing in her first film.

TEHZEEB is a different album,not your usual mushy kind..................its got something fresh to offer,its kind of a album where music is been given keeping in mind the story of the film,coz I think SHABANA AZMI is playing the part of a ghazal singer,but still its a album where there are all kinds of song,love song,FUSION AND GHAZALS................AND RAHMAN has given a great album once again.So i'ld say go and grab your copies now..................apparently the album is supposed to release to day though I got it yesterday,itself.And I am hooked to the music esp MEHARBAAN.............it ROCKZS BIG TIME!
