Team BHP for dummies. Review on Team-Bhp

I am tempted to write this review. The temptation is not to malign or praise someone, at best you can call this random rambling of sort.

The temptation has emerged from the fact that a product which has got a 30% recommendation here may not be worthy of 30% recommendation. Or should I say “just” 30% recommendation.

And why I humbly think that is because a cursory look on the reviews above, you would know most of the beating has emerged from the fact that people are not able to join because they screen membership requests. Or it is, as they say, a heavily guarded site with “Moderators” watching anything or everything.

Now cmon folks, since when playing with fair rules has become a foul play? Didn’t they tell you that they take your reason to join the forum very very seriously? Didn’t they tell you that till some time(25 first posts to be precise) your postings would be approved before they appear?

You knew it and you have taken the plunge, why complain now. If you are still not convinced, why don’t you read some rediff type of forums where comments section most often then not turn into a display of such vulgarity and utter disrespect that many firewalls end up blocking these sites for being a porno portal. Okay okay I know have exaggerated there. But you got the drift.isnt it.

What, did you say you don’t want to go that far? All right then, I have been a member here on mouthshut for long. Would you like me to dig out some reviews where comments section went into a rally of near abusive language? And eventually administrators had to come in and douse the fire. So what is wrong with team-bhp if they don’t want such situation to occur at all by strict monitoring?

Having said that, yeah I think they can do a little more introspection. Let me give you an example. They don’t allow more than 2 smilies in one post. They also don’t allow 2 back to back posts. I was posting a long review in parts. One of the moderators clubbed 2 of my posts saying it could very well have been one post. Agreed. After a day, that post got further modified by another Moderators saying “you can not post more than 2 smilies per post”. I mean, yeah I know that, I didn’t use more than 2 smilies in any of these two posts. What can I do if one of your moderators decided to club my two posts and never bothered to look into smily rule. J

So the issue of membership and monitoring settled(or at least I would like to think so), lets move on to the portal.

Quality wise, can you really compare two portals offering same services/line of thoughts without being biased? I don’t think that’s possible. It’s like news papers, you get addicted to one you read. Besides, I guess their USP lies in the fact that they don’t expect you to be an automobile expert to be a member. Take a look at my case, I am no where close to one but enjoy being their member. I’ve been reading them since last 4 years and then decided to become a member only now. It took me 3 attempts to get my membership approved, so yeah even I am looking to give a moderator a piece of my mind once I get hold of one of them you see. lol.

Taking the discussion forward, when you go to a portal such as team-bhp, typically what do you have in mind?

Query on which car to buy?

Thirst to ogle at the latest beauties?

Eagerness to know what separates one car of a segment from the other car of same segment?

Anything or everything under the bonnet?

How to accessories a car or what audio setup works well?

What tires and which alloys?

What is available in international market?

Know the experiences of people who happen to own the same car you drive?

Reliable bunks in your city to trust worthy vendors?

Places you can pack urself up and go?

Well, team-bhp gives a double than that list. And since that pretty much satisfy my appetite, it works way to well for me. And I haven’t even talked about the technical stuff yet. Am a dummy you see J

Overall, I happen to see this section of mouthshut today, something told me the 30% recommendation stuff is not fair to the portal so I added my 2 cents. You don’t have to believe me though, that forum is open to all, you need not be a member to access any information, go ahead and check out the portal which is said to be “red lining the Indian Automotive scene” J

PS - Yeah, I can’t help but quote a comment in one of the reviews here which had something to say about this portal being sponsored by Honda’s and Toyota’s. I seriously seriously recommend you to look for Honda reviews there, it will be worth it folks.
