I had huge expectations with this one as it has three top notch actors-Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I thought it would be a brilliant film but it was nowhere close .
The plot of the film is the main culprit. The first time director Ripu Banerjee hasnt given much attention to the script it seems.
The story begins with one Mr. John ( AB) who lives with his paraplegic wife and is in search of a mysterious man who had kidnapped his grand daughter Angela 8 years back which had led to her death. He leaves no stone unturned to look for all the clues that could lead him to the man. He tries to seek help of Martin Das ( Nawaz) , cop turned priest who turns a deaf ear to his repeated pleas.Sarita ( Vidya Balan ) , who is a cop comes in the picture when a kidnapping similar to what had happened 8 years back takes place. She pursues Martin to help her . The series of events that occur after this and how is this kidnapping related to what happened 8 years back , forms the crux of the story.
The plot has so many loop holes that the audience gets too confused. And well before the interval you can predict the climax. AB is superb in his role. Nawaz was not suitable for the role of the priest. Vidya ( they called it a guest role in credits ) has nothing much to do but enacts her part well.
Overall, its one confusing story where you would just wait for it to end !
I am giving it 2 stars .
