T’s been eight years since Amitabh Bachchan’s character John Biswas has lost his granddaughter, Angela.
The little girl was kidnapped under mysterious circumstances.
John tries everything in his capacity to trace the links of the tragic occurrence but to no avail. The incident has scarred John and his wife Nancy forever.
His relentless quest is to get justice. So even after eight long years John hasn’t given up. He continues to visit the police station where he’s shunned and ignored every day.
The only person whose help he seeks is Martin Das(Nawazuddin Siddiqui), an ex-cop turned priest who has one thing in common with John – the death of Angela had a life altering impact on both men. Martin is seeking solace now through what appears to be a path he has adopted not by choice but for the sake of convince. He just wants to run away from the disturbing reality and the trauma it has caused him Eight years later, history repeats itself.
There’s another kidnapping and the way it has been carried out bears a striking similarity with what happened to Angela. Vidya Balan’s character Sarita Sarkar steps in tactfully and gets Martin involved in the case to connect the dots and solve the mystery. John too doggedly pieces together the identity of Angela’s kidnapper from little bits of information that he has collected through his own investigations in all these years
