One of the rare reasons to smile during tax season. Review on Taxsmile

Discovered Taxsmile based on a promotional email from PersonalFN, that offered a discount for using the services. It was cheaper than going to our company TRA, so we went ahead. After two years of using their services, we are happy to recommend them forward. To be sure, our experience is only based on standard Form 16 entries where no support was required and there was nothing complicated in the returns. Not sure how good they are at handling complex tax issues.

However the user-interface is very well-designed and for the average salaried person, the wizard is very helpful to decide what kind of taxes must be paid and under what heads. The inline help is also are quite useful to decode some of the jargon, but it can be further developed.What I especially liked is how it remembers details, not only from last year but also across logins. I logged in and worked on my returns over multiple days before I finally submitted and made the payment. At no point did I have to re-enter what I had already input. I did not have to explicitly save anything, either. This is a very thoughtful feature.Finally the payment mechanism is smooth and the taxes can be paid from their interface too. The returns were submitted on time and we got the ack as expected. All in all it was a painless process. Hope they keep it up.
