What happens two personalities that are poles apart from each other clash ? Director Milan Lutharia takes a simple but refreshingly different plot and goes a step ahead with routine bollywood drama .

The result: Laughter. Fun. Paisa-vasool entertainment. The film clearly is inspired by the English flick Changing Lanes.

Raghav Shashtri (Nana Patekar) and Jai Mittal (John Abraham).

Raghav is a taxi driver who has told his family that he is an insurance agent. He is in desperate need to get thirty thousands rupees so that he can pay his bills of next-door grocery man and others.

On an eventful day, the other dude Jai Mittal (John Abraham) bangs on Raghav. They meet by chance and while Jai wants the help of Raghav's speeding taxi, Raghav's mind is working on something else. Jai is neck deep in crisis because of a will that his father (Akash Khurana) has left locked in the hands of his father's close aide (Shivaji Satam). So, the key of the situation is in the hands of Raghav .

The initial reels set the ball rolling. The sequences between Nana and John – the latter hounding Nana time and again – are uproarious. Prior to that, John's introduction is equally funny. But the goings-on tend to get mediocre after interval. The pace drops and the story stagnates.

The film gathers momentum again towards the pre-climax, when John challenges Nana that he will get will on a stipulated date. The sequences thereafter, right till the end, are interesting and absorbing. The pace of the flick being swift, by the time you realise what's happening, a new development arrests your attention instantaneously. That's where film scores – not letting the viewer blink an eyelid!

Music is a plus point. The tracks are hummable and come easy on the lips. The choreography of 'Meter Down' stands out and deserves special mention.

Cinematography is up to the mark. The lavish expenses and the striking locales of Mumbai have been captured with elan on celluloid. Dialogues are excellent. Actually, the one-liners heighten the impact of several sequences. However, one wishes the editing was crisper, mainly towards the second half.

The drama gets a little more amusing thanks to the great chemistry between Nana andJohn. It is difficult to imagine another pair of actors pulling it off as well. Nana plays to the gallery, making the unbelievable look believable. This is amongst his finest performances.John matches him at every step

Sameera looks ill at ease . Also, she looks pale at places.Sonali delivers a free wheeling performance.

Taxi certainly achieves what it sets out to do – give the viewer non-stop entertainment.
