I am Shirish from Banglore, working for an MNC. I bought a Indica Dicor in April 2008.
I have clocked 6 grands till now. Mine is Scarlett Red in Color. My main criteria
before buying this car was a good value of money hatchback.
Initially I was interested in Swift Diesel and when I heard about its price and
a yawning waiting period of 6 months in banglore I decided I would drop it off. Later
one of my friend who is having Indica Turbo suggested me Indica Turbo which
would have good power and also pretty fuel economy. I went for buying it when I had
the chance of test driving the INdica Dicor. I felt dicor to be more lively and responsive
and the AC was also quite powerful even at the position '1'.
I liked the suspension very much ( with my earlier car being Zen). it would hold the car
even under heavy load. The steering felt light and engine was much smoother than expected.
After thinking for a couple of days I booked it and got it delivered in 3 days. The cost
of the car was 1 lakh and few thousands cheaper than Swift Diesel.
I had fitted DVD Player ( Pioneer) and Samsung LCD screen. In addition I fitted a Alpine
amplifier with a sub woofer 10". Its now like a mobile home theatre.
Initially the car supported a sprited driving. The fuel efficiency was decent 16.8 Kmpl in
crowded Banglore city and went up to 22.8 Kmpl in my occassional inter city driving.
It was this time I came accross the 'Performance Boxes' for Diesel cars. I was not knowing
much technically about these kind of after market Retrofitments.
I went through the review in mouthshut by the fellow member Arvind K . He had mentioned
about the performance box which he fitted for his Dicor . I pinged him and he shared with
me his delightful experience with Dicor. He was a serious automobile enthusiast though being
a software engineer by profession.
I too want to fit a performance box for my dicor and I tried to buy online. In most of the
places I could not find the box lesser than 35000 Rs. Hence I requested Arvind if he could
buy me one. He was kind enough to get one for me through one of his relatives living in US.
I purchased it for 16 K from him.
As rightly said by Mr.Arvind, fitting the tuning box in my car was only a couple of minute
job. And viola , it worked out superb.
The car was much more powerful than I expected it to be. Acceleration was super smooth
and I could feel the urgency in pulling right from 1200 rpm onwards and did not tail off till
4200 rpm. I could not produce the figures as the way it was detailed by Mr.Arvind. If you need
numbers u can refer the following link..

But power increase is immediately apparent. The way I start up from traffic lights and
the way it cruises at 3 digit speeds in highways with ease leaves a permanent smile with
me.
Recommended gear shift speeds.
1st To 2nd - 15 Kmph
2nd to 3rd - 30 Kmph
3rd to 4th - 50 kmph
4th to 5th - 65 Kmph
the above gear shift speeds works out best fuel economy combined with excellent
power. The power is now
90 bhp and max torque is 17.2 Kgm @ 1700 - 2900 rpm.
The additional torque makes feel 5th gear as 4th. At speeds over 60 Kmph in 5th gear
there is a strong Torque pull and in no time I could reach 130 Kmph before I realise.
After all these the fuel efficiency remains the same as I had experienced earlier. More
power without losing economy. Is it not a very happy thing ?.
I am happy with the performance of a Sedan and economy of a diesel hatch back.
