Dishtv, Tatasky or any other DTH

After a horrid experience with renewal of my dishtv connection, I am writing this review. I have been using DISHTV for last 3 years. In between, I have shifted my house, and believe me - DISHTV is a pain when it comes to the following -

  1. Renewal of subscription - the only modes of renewal of subscription are ITZcash card, or credit card or find where the dishtv office is - go there - and pay up in cash. Lets take up this issue one by one. Renewal by -

(a) Credit cards - the amt does get debited from your account, but doesnt get credited into their account. Then you phone up several people and you get the message. Thing which should work smoothly, doesnt work at all.

(b) ITZCash Card - I dont find too many appliance shops which sell this card. If I have to travel half of bangalore to find out where it is sold, its not worth it.

(c) Finding the dishtv office is also not easy. For something as simple as TV subscription, no way!

  1. House shifting - when you finally want to install the dishtv at your new place, no franchisee is willing to do this job. I guess their commissions are less, so they simply say - we dont do it.

  2. And the worst is their call center - a bunch of clumsy, good-for-nothing blokes who cant create a login/passwd in 4 working days. What can you expect from these guys. Their mentality is - once they have sold dishtv connection once, they dont care about it.

So, ultimately - whats the point in having a connection for which you have to do so much "bhaga daudi"? Consider these arguments before you buy either of them, while I celebrate my 20th day of phoning these idiots up.
