Read this for DISHTV if you are in Pune. Review on Tata Sky vs Dish TV - Which is Better

I am a customer of DISHTV and I would strongly urge those who are movie fans or are viewers of business channels or infotainment channels like Nat Geo or History never to opt for DISHTV.

During the summer time, Nat Geo or History would vanish. So does CNBZ Awaaz. During rains these channels are perpetually off air. Star movies is also shown sporadically. The so called premium movie package also is off the air on Dish.  Now Dishtv has issues with ETV channels also.

I had switched to dishtv as our cable operator had no genarator service and was giving grainy pictures. Now I feel I have been ripped.

Repeated complaints to DISHTV have yielded no results.

In retrospect I will ask all of you not to go for DISHTV if you are in Pune. The coverage is terrible.

Note for the channels that do come (mainly zee and sony bouqet) the picture and sound quality is better than cable TV (but then who wants to thrive on SOAP and sensational channels?)

I think it is fair to upgrade to my review a bit. Some of you have been writing to me about my experience with DISHTV. I am honoured that some of your asked. Today my problem got solved. It was however not solved by DISHTV but by local dealer's technician. Complaints lodged with DISHTV never helped as there are no technicians who visit you. According to my dealer - It appears DISHTV support is limited to some software and the set top box and nothing beyond that. I paid up some cash for the technician's visit who adjusted antenna and also replaced the signal catching part in the antenna. (I wonder if that was because DD changed something) Now all channels are coming though signal strength fluctuates for some channels. I am surprised that the equipment had gone bad in the first few months only. There is absolutely no guarantee of the parts. Given the height of the antenna it is highly unlikely that anything apart from wind or rain would have ever touched the antenna. I am yet to find an assignable cause for the issue.

I will update the space later after my other experiences.

One pro point though  - DISHTV is better than my cablewallah in terms of channel coverage or quality and their service does make phone calls about the problems.
