With many options available in the DTH space today you are no longer dependent on the early dominant players. What more you get better deals now.I have been using Dish TV for the last 3 years in Chennai mainly because I wanted to stay away from the local cable guy but I am not completely thrilled.There is very little support from the service provider in solving problem.
As a matter of fact my connection has been off for the last 3 days and I have not had any response for the complaint!The other issue is that they will introduce newer charges that do not have any information from them on these. For eg Rs 25 for not renewing your connection within a week of subscription expiry date!I went to Tata Sky for my parents home given the problems I faced with Dish TV and have had no problems till date.
Of course the number of channels are higher in Dish TV than Tata Sky (do not know about other service providers), but if you are a cricket fan. You do not get Neo Sports / Cricket on Dish TV.Another problem common to all service providers is that when it rains. The DTH goes blank. It is so bad that you can predict rains about 2 minutes before (well my wife is delighted with this.
Since she can remove the dried clothes!!!)On the overall... Tata Sky is better than Dish TV... but I would recommend a check on other services too since the price differential is very little. Another point is that there is a regulation expected where you can change your DTH service provider... you may have to wait a few years though...
