I have recently compared both the products and here are the differences that I noticed.

Channels: Dish has more number of TV and radio channels but thre numbers are not so important as they include more reagional channels. Also they charge extra for some channels. For example  if you want NDTV 24*7(news channel),  you will have to pay Rs 25 extra  (maxi Rs 300/-). Or go for the southern Pack where it is included.

Tata has fewer but relavant channels for the same amount

How to get: Dish will give you numbers of dealers and ask you to call them up( I was given 7 numbers. 2 were not in service 1 was wrong number and 2 numbers were a house number picked by housewives or children. only 2 numbers were correct . they both refused to take checks and asked me to visit the shop

Tata on the other hand takes your order and delevers the digicomp and dish to your home. Payment can be made against delevery.

Delevery: Dish dealers will expect you to go to their store and pay in cash only. They refuse to take cheque or credit card.

Tata on the other hand will delever the digicomp at home and accept whatever form of payment you make. You can even make a Credit card payment over the IVR(Phone) by pressing your phone buttons. Its secure.

However in case of tata,  be warned that booking over the phone is going to take at least 2 weeks if payment is made as the sales team is not bothered to collect another payment(deal is already in). If you go to a store and pick up the digicomp, installation is done the next day!

Cost: Dish gives 12 months free against 6 months by tata(7 months if you pay by credit card).

however dish charges about a thousand bucks  more(for 12 months free) . If you calculate a credit card payment over ivr and you are paying Rs500/- extra for Tata.

Dish gives 12 meters wire free and if more wire is required you are charged 15/- per meter extra(dealer told me to consider Rs 500/- extra for wires as I live on 4th floor of a 7 storey building)

Tata gives 20 meters of wire free and for another 20 meters will charge Rs200/-
