A dish tv connection will give you the ability to record BUT with the following commandments:
You shall only record what you are seeing, while you are seeing it.
Or you shall record when nobody is seeing anything on tv. Effectively it translates into that if two programmes of interest are airing at the same time you cannot watch one and record the other. So if your spouse and you used to fight for the remote pre your dish tv days you shall continue to fight post dish tv also and so be it. Amen.
Secondly the dish tv connection needs a external memory device( preferably an external hard disk) to be attached to be able to record.
All this is not clearly mentioned anywhere on their website so you can make an informed decision.
