Well, as the title suggest, this mammoth is full of surprises. Sometimes you just love it n at times you wish you had saved-up n bought an Endeavor or a CRV.

I bought the car(DICOR VX 4X2) on 5th November, 2006. Its been two months since I am driving this beast so I guess I have the right to hold an opinion.

The car is absolutely amazing compared to the earlier Safari, the sluggishness is not there anymore plus the handling is much better. One would be mildly surprised how responsive the car is, keeping in mind the sheer size of the monster( I upgraded from an 2003 esteem n was still impressed). There is no turbo lag, the ABS & EBD systems along with DualAirbags certainly make the driving pleasurable and safe.

More positives can be accumulated from the reviews written by other members, I am just gonna put in a few CONs that make me question my 11 Lac purchase.

As said earlier, its been only 2 months since I bought the vehicle n I am already facing the following problems:

  1. The entire driver side door and window is vibrating loudly n disturbs a lot.

  2. The same goes for the glove box, which does not shut completely even tho I use just to keep a couple of CDs

  3. The idle motor is very'lumpy' n makes the whole front cabin rattle.

  4. Casings of the A-pillar are coming undone even tho I have never touched them(why would anyone?)

5.The cavity for keeping tools under the middle passenger seat keeps making weird noises even tho I have tried various tricks(like packing it with plastic bubble sheets).

  1. No automatic roll-up of window on the driver side. One has to keep holding the button, the window does not roll-up on its own.(the feature was present even on my esteem!) Thus one had if off steering wheel for the entire process of roll in-up the'power window'

  2. The fuel lid has amind of its own and likes to pop open anytime it feels like. Furthermore I have to slam it shut at least 10 times every time I refuel it just doesn't want to go to rest( I guess its got something to do with the low average of the car n n has an insatiable thirst for diesel . ha ah)

Apart from these, the car is a delight to drive and well suited to my mumbai - belapur - mumbai drive which I undertake daily. The roads(or the lack of them) in these parts are notorious for their potholes which even tankers find difficult to handled. But the safari just cruises along.

*I just wish that TATA would have paid more attention tot he grievance of the old Safari as most of the problems are still present in the dicor, apart from the 90 bhp regular engine i.e.
