Read the entire review carefully before u come into a conclusion....
Safari Dicor EX 4X2 Sept 2006........ie 6 months...and within this time I have got all info a tata customer shud know..actually my vehicle used to b
with service personnel half of the time and I was in the service center judging their actions...lol
Got the vehicle in gud shape...well polished, clean inside etc etc........the next 3 months I faced all these...
The rear suspension failed ..RH side...they replaced it.
The locks wont go in properly....ie when we lock the vehicle from outside/inside the lock wont go completely in and some one can open the door from outside...as planned the alarm goes on ....they rectified it.
Oil leaks from 2 areas ....both under or near to engine...they rectified it.
Once vehcile dint start...or engine dint crank....as I knew some gud tech I called him up...he asked me to put in 4th gear and move the vehicle back to start again..walla it started...tuk the vehicle to them and they said ther is no problem with starter...they found a wire loose and said that was the reason....who knows....again that has not repeated.....so rectified.
The electricals of any tata vehicle is pathetic....and so is that of safaris....actually they dont do their job properly...the roof lights if turned on during motion wud blink or wud go out and come bak......againrectified...a possible loose contact.
The rear glass is actually glued on to the body using a mixture of two glues(i hav seen it) and ther is no special hinges or any other support for it....now once fixed properly it remains ther as wat company
claims...now if its not fixed properly....yeah the tail gate glass was not fixed properly...its difficult to see it because of the beading around it...the tech removed the beading to check for some rattling
noise and found gaps!!!! around the glass....ie I actually cud pass paper thru it..or simply stated the glue was not distributed properly......and ther has been many reportings of glass coming of during the drive...as air from the front and rear comes and gets stuck in the rear and the glass if not properly fixed will come of..again
they removed the glas and fixed it....so rectified.
7.Tail door rattling....big issue..i heard some tech saying the latest safari ie after jan2007
doesnt have this problem...but for me it was ther..even after adding a coupling by them...it was not gone...but after spending 700rs on fuel they got it completely eliminated..the issue was that the tail door was not centralised...again rectified
8.The cladding paint job was done by them and was pathetic...ie the place wher the body and clad
meets they actually mask the body part and this creates problem..when they remove it the paint also comes of the from cladding and the say they cant rectify it...but after making some scene over ther they
committed and redid it and so now its recitified..
9.The rear seats make a hell of noise......actually they used to make noise even when
they r buckled up...but now they make noise when someone sits on it....they cudnt rectify it completely and I dint give that big stress as it is hardly used.so rectiifed for me.
10.Intially bonnet /Fuel Lid
wudnt open from inside....ther r two bushes under the bonnet to lift it when we pull the cable from inside...they wer missing.... and regarding fuel lid..the fuse blew off and so it was not functioning...they
rectified it..

11.the tail brake lamp has many lights....i dont know whether they r leds..but they come as a set and some of them started not to function....replaced the entire kit ..again rectified.
12.The Clutch used to b very hard...took it to them and got it rectified
13.The rear doors wer not set properly or it was very hard to close it....rectified
14.The glass of LH front door used to pop out when we try to windup...or it wudnt close and some extra hand-job was required to get it all the way to close....they say its power window!!!!..again rectified.
These wer the problems which i faced during the first 3 months....and of these some are typical safari issues like oil leaks and tail door/seat rattling. But for me I had more than thos typical issues and I can clearly say I had taken my vehicle to service center for more than 25 times becoz of these issues during the first 3 months..But the service they gave was gud..was prompt and gave special priority for safari as sr.techs used to take special care and I used to follow up with them...the service advisors are just ...they r not responsible..so when u tak ur safari just make sure u find the safari expert and build a gud rapport with him....this has helped me a lot...The prblms I mention above is not happening with every buyer around...i hav seen a lot of customers who dint have even a single problem ....not even tail door rattling..
I m not stressing on the pros of this vehicle here as most of us know it and mouthshut limits upto 7500 characters for a review...but look at the top for some pros in a nutshell...or mail me to get all info..
............Now here r some points u shud remeber before u buy this beast.................
1.Do not go for VX asABS
in safari is making a hell of problems...actually its bit risky when u go at higher speeds..had words with a lot of vx customers and all had this problem...its bit slow in responding and some had faced accidents becoz of this.
2.The turning radius of this vehicle is very large(6m)...in simple terms not gud for a u turn in cities like cochin wher u have to actually come to left most part of the left track to get to the right hand side of the road or else u have to do a lot of reverse-forward operations..and if the street is busy u r doomed..
3.the rear view of the vehicle is bad especially the LH side and if u need to park the
vehicle u will require some extra assistance.....i hav heard that parking sensors r gud but they r of no use if a big pit is waiting for u in rear.but this is the case of many suvs here.
4..Always test drive ur vehicle
(Test drive ur vehicle in cities when high traffic is ther and also on rough roads and if possible drive one or more) before u book it and note the engine/chassis number from under the hood after that.

shud b only taken by those who actually enjoy wat safari is "the power"...and the thrill u get driving it , i can say no other suv in this segment can give u this feel...scorpio gives u a car like drive especially the new ones...but thats not wat we safari lovers like...so make sure u hav got some patience when u buy it and the rest is
