Installation a big pain !!!

I ordered for a Tata Sky during the 3 months subscription free offer. I faced a lot of installation problems in Worldspace and decided not to pay any advance unless the installation was completed.  The dealer was ok with me paying after the installation.


I spoke to dealer on 30th March and the dealer confirmed that the installation would be done on 1st April in 9-1 PM slot. As per our discussion a person came from the dealers shop with the Set top box and told that the installation team would come in 1 hour. I made him clear that I would make the payment only after the installation. He was ok and went back. I waited for the installation team till 1 PM and no one turned up.  I called up the number mentioned on the Invoice and I was told that due to some backlog it would not be done in 9-1 slot and it would be done in 2-5 slot.  The customer id was generated and was available on the Invoice.


When no one turned till evening 5 PM, I called up the person again but he did not respond. I called up the help line number but no help. Finally I decided that I am not going to accept this product as I did not pay any thing.  Next day I called up Tata Sky Helpline and complained about this incident. Believe me they were more than courteous and were ready to help me in whatever ways they could. They told me that the installation was not even scheduled for yesterday and it was scheduled for today. This irritated me like any thing. I decided not to take this and I informed Help Line. My call got escalated to the higher level and they tried their best to convince me and said they would take an action against dealer.  They tried all their level best to comfort me and nothing better from their side was expected. Finally they convinced me of the product and I negotiated with dealer for reducing the price also since it was a miss from their side. He accepted that.


After it was installed and the things moved from local dealer to the Tata Sky group, I did not face any problem. Picture quality is really good if you compare to the local cable TV. The remote is friendly enough, not very complicated. Sound quality is really good. I have not faced any problem except for the installation part and I think one can take this product. Please be aware of the wrong promises made by the dealers and check it with the Tatasky helpline for the offers etc.


Tata Sky help line guys are really professional and they would try their best to assist you. Dealers are big cheats so be aware of them. Product is worth spending its price.
