Tata Sky : Living upto the name of the product. Review on Tata Play

Hi Friends,

A couple of weeks back, I was in dilemma to select "Dish TV" or "Tata Sky" !

As none of my friends/neighbour are using any of these and living with their cable operators, I was not having straight feedback for both of the products.

Then, I checked it at net and finally reached mouthshut.com.

Based on the reviews and comparisons among both the product, I opted for Tata Sky

Now, last week, just before a day to Diwali, it was installed at my home. Professionalism and punctuality was the first thing Tata Sky engineers have demonstrated.

At that time, I was at office and my wife attended them. They were very specific, to the point and clear what they are doing. They explained so well every thing to my wife that she can handle it from very first day easily.

Advantages:

1) It has predefined classification of channels. Like Entertainment, Movies, Sports, News. You can select one category and can see the listed channels. Earlier, I have to set one type of channels in sequence. Every time, cable wala fumble with channels and I have to find where my fav. channel has gone. Now this is not the case with Tatasky.

2) Additionally you can see the current and next programs(upto next one week) to be telecasted on that channel. Earlier either I have to remember or to search Newspapers.

3) You can select any program and can set a reminder. Now, on that particular day and time, reminder will offer you to jump on the program. The only pre-requisite is - Your TV should be ON ofcourse. :)

4) I have tried its interactive games. Wow... Its interesting. My Kid is mad about it. earlier he was mad about Cartoon network or pogo... Now he also looks for permission for playing game on Tata sky.

5) Your TV remote will get obsolete mostly. Tata Sky remote will help you to do most of the things.

6) You can assign 4 digit PIN (sort of password) to any mature content channel like FTV or Zee Trendz. Your kid or anybody can not see that channel while scrolling unless they provide its PIN.

7) Initial 14 days of Tata sky is free. Then you have to use your prepaid card (like mobile phones).

8) Active Khabar will bring 4 news channels in one screen. You can hear any one them. And finally choose which channel you like to go through.

9) Active Sport: The best part : You can see the schedule of current Champions Trophy. Otherwise, earlier I have to search news paper to find out when India has its match.

You can select cameras to select your view. (I have not tested it yet...Will tell about it later.)

10) Yesterday when we were watching programs, electricity went off. My wife was about to move away to kitchen as she was having habit with traditional cable service. Once colony electricity will go off, cable service is also interuptted, whatever favorite program, LIVE match you are watching.

Now, no interruption to your program with Tatasky.

(on the other hand, you should have inverter at your home... Luxury supports Luxury... :)

11) Channels: All channel which normally we see. I am not considering local language channels.

(While all are available.)

Zee, Star, Sony groups, with all main music, news, kids, Knowledge (discovery; Nat Geo, Travel and living etc.)...

The only thing which my wife misses : Cable wala movie channel.

We normally watch latest good movies on theater itself. Rest are coming on movie channels like Max, Zee cinema.. So overall, there is no loss.

12) Thanks God, Now I am away from irritating cable service and cable walah.

550: 3 month subscription (prepaid card)

Rs 550 for 3 months. Avg. 180Rs per month. (via prepaid card.)

And finally the most important thing : Quality of picture is BRILLIANT and OUTSTANDING.

so in all, Rs. 4550 is really worth.

I am writiing this review since I was convinced by the reviews on MOUTHSHUT.COM platform. Readers like you and me wrote in order to let others get benefitted with product's pass or fail.

If you are not thaat Quality minded and does not bother to have various interruptions, low picture quality, low customer care skills, and still paying 250 Rs (As I was paying), you can be ok with current Cable system.

On the other hand, if you are Good TV watcher, and wants to see good quality to repect your time you spend with TV, you definitely need to switch to Tata Sky. I am an IT professional and really watch TV for refreshing myself, daily for a couple of hours. Whatever, scrolling. looking for better program. And if quality of picture is not good. You feel tired and bored and finally shuts off.

It does not happen with Tata Sky. (You have to remind yourself that it is already 1 am and next day is not an off day.. you have to wake up early to go office by time.)

Its sincerely not in favour of any good or bad of Tata sky. It is just to be justified to the product I am using.
