I was looking at buying a set top box.I was lured by tata’s features like ability to record any channel, and then facility to play that(with ability to fast forward any commercials) and also I like the pause tv and rewind features.
Though it was a costly affair(10K) but I thought it was worth investing as that means I would save lot of time. I called customer care of Tata Sky and they told me that they will provide 18 EMI(No interest and not processing fees) on my HDFC Bank CC and that was the last straw to break the camel’s back. I instantly made up my mind and decided to book the Tata Sky Plus. They took the order on the phone(CC details entered by me via secure IVR) and I was told that they will give me DVR and install it in 24 hours.
As I have done research on mouthshut so I was aware that I won’t get it before a week time. So but to get it earliest I called them again and again at their call center and talk to their seniors etc. and finally I got the DVR installed at my home after 3 days.(Not that bad as I assumed from reviews):)
I was delighted to see the DVR, the quality of remote they give with it and lot of wires that they give(although I was not happy as the supplied USB port don’t work but they said it will work sometime in future) Anyways, they never mentioned in their commercials about that so I take it for granted what they say.
But than, that was the last day I remember I watched any live TV. Believe me man, the picture quality of recorded movies and serials is as good as live TV. Its just amazing. Then sound is equally good. I guess their component cable coupled with my 40" LCD TV is really producing great results. Now I no more ever need to watch commercials. I just keep lot of movies and serials recorded. I keep my DVR-STB open in night with all recordings set so it records movies all the night and day and when I am back to home after work, I have everything recorded and then I go to plan and start watching the recorded movies. The movie that took 4 hours on live TV like sony, star gold etc. are now seen in 2 hours( I cut the commercials and some boring songs while watching it) Result is now I get more time with my family and yet I don’t miss any movie or serial.
