Good, bad and Ugly of TataSky. Review on Tata Play

Like most products TataSky fails to customize products to market needs. They embarked into the Satelite television market with almost monopoly. But, the market of similar service providers are growing because of "inferior" product(s) TataSky offers  . "thanks to TataSky" would be the tag line for almost all local cable operators. TataSky should understand that the products would sell based on its offerings and not(only) on Hrithik Roshan endorsing!

Technically, TataSky offers a great picture quality, decent enough user interface and good technology basement(Satellite TV). But, they terribly fail in offering localized versions of the product which would shake the local cable operators. I am not promoting local cable television guy; in fact, one of the reasons I bought TataSky was to elimiate headaches associated with cable TV guys who have their own mafia setup in their operations. I firmly believed that Technology is the only source that would eliminate all these lobbying by cable operators. TataSky disappointed me! They too are as worse as a cable TV operator with bad customer service(script based read out as an answer to the question - "When is Sun network on air", script based read out for - "Why are few channels vanished without customer intimation", etc), non-competitive spirit almost saying "take it or live it", and useless product packaging strategies.

So, sorry people, I cannot rate anything more than "POOR" for TataSky with their(supposedly) ultra modern technology and Hrithik Roshan! And, they have a bad collection of DVD quality movies(except for Krissh and Don) for which they grossly charge a higher price. Local DVD stores can give the same to you at a much lower price provided you don't mind a small walk to the DVD shop.

Only positive is the picture quality. Not a sufficient reason to impress everyone!
